You get called a racist often enough that you have rules for it? That should tell you something about yourself. It's not a good thing. Stop being racist and people will stop calling you racist. Simple.
The "real goal" should be reducing carbon emissions, yes. The U.S. doesn't have the authority to do so unilaterally, but that's what treaties are for.
Unfortunately, everyone's going to have to work together to solve this problem, and there are enough people moaning about it that it's going to be very difficult to get everyone onboard. That's why I'm not very optimistic.
To the bold part, because you disagree with someone does not make you a racist....
You, as a leftist, have no clue what that means....if someone disagrees with you, you are racist....
Let's see how popular a carbon tax would be if BC didn't get over 80% of its energy from hydroelectric
And Hawaii is the state with the highest percentage of its energy coming from oil than any other state. With all those solar panels and yet energy is over $.30 per kilowatt
Speaking of imagination, I see you're still trying to sell us that people like carbon taxes in BC, which is an absolute lie, because I actually read the comments below the article. The United States and BC are two completely different places. Since obama has ran up the debt so high, that carbon tax will likely go to pay that, and prop up obamcare and and all his other failed polices.
Well, except for the fact that the people who study this stuff for a living say that you're wrong.
As for the original post in this thread, well, a tax on something would be intended to provide incentive not to do it. Just like a sin tax. Want people to burn less gas? Impose a gas tax. Want people to consume less soda? Have a soda tax.
Want greedy billionaires not to ruin the environment for our grandchildren? Tax their sins.
This probably isn't enough, but it's a step in the right direction. A lot more needs to be done.
Sooooo......taxing businesses at the highest rate in the world reduces investment by them, therefore stagnating wages and job growth.
This has been the agenda all along--to pick Americans' pockets again.
The fact that the sheeple are standing with their hands at their sides and mouths agape, to even give credence to this notion by entertaining it with questions should tell us that we're doomed.
So the logic is everybody should be taxed in the average of how much a person exhales in a 24 hour period. Athletic people obviously get taxed more since they exhale greater quantities. A couch potato less. A nagging wife more. Those like to lecture or talk get taxed more. It's all about degrees. We would have to pick up the taxes for animals in the state we live in. Those stares with cattle get taxed more since AGWNJ have determined that cow farts contribute to AGW. Wild animals have to be factored in as well with tax credits going to hunters try to eliminate carbon exhalers.
I would hire the genius that wrote the Obamacare law to write CAL; carbon exhalers Law.
Sorry guys, but a carbon tax is headed your way....
Under the bill sponsored by Sens. Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island and Brian Schatz of Hawaii, carbon would be taxed at $45 per ton and the funds raised would be used to reduce corporate taxes, offset payroll taxes, provide Social Security and veteran’s payouts and allow for state-directed funding to other citizens.
When carbon taxing comes — and, like it or not, it is coming — companies that have embraced sustainability will have a competitive and financial advantage.

Unfortunately I think your right. Sadly a carbon tax hardship to be imposed on working families for a hoax!
Here is a chance for the climate change crowd to have a discussion.....please tell us how a carbon tax will cool the planet?
Will taxing Americans alone solve the problem?
Will giving the 3rd World nations more aid cool the planet?
Will reducing the standard of living by 30% take care of Americans?
A carbon tax won't cool the planet, at least not for several hundred years, but there are dire consequences if nothing is done about the increase of CO2 in the air and oceans.
Carbon tax is a form of pollution tax. It levies a fee on the production, distribution or use of fossil fuels based on how much carbon their combustion emits. The government sets a price per ton on carbon, then translates it into a tax on electricity, natural gas or oil. Because the tax makes using dirty fuels more* expensive, it encourages utilities, businesses and individuals to reduce consumption and increase energy efficiency. Carbon tax also makes alternative energy more cost-competitive with cheaper, polluting fuels like coal, natural gas and oil.
