Now weren't you one of those who were frothing at the mouth about Iran's potential nuclear program? So since Russia is sending power generating grade uranium to Iran, you are ok with this since it isn't a "weapons system"? I'll be sure to bring this up every time you comment in an Iran thread.

The only reason the United States insisted on making the statements it did concerning Iraq's chemical and biological WMD's was because the US knew at one time they were in possession of these things, we still have the receipt from where we sold them. Thankfully of course they have a very short shelf life of only a few years, but this didn't stop us from making claims such as...

Our intelligence officials estimate that Saddam Hussein had the materials to produce as much as 500 tons of sarin, mustard and VX nerve agent. George W. Bush - State of the Union Address - January 28, 2003

(thank the Commerce dept. for this one, and while it may not have been as you say a "weapons system" it was used as the context to invade and occupy Iraq. This proves that even empty war heads are a dangerous thing.

We know where they are. They're in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south and north somewhat. Donald Rumsfeld - ABC Interview - March 30, 2003

One of my favorites:

Obviously the administration intends to publicize all the weapons of mass destruction U.S. forces find -- and there will be plenty. Neocon scholar Robert Kagan - Washington Post op-ed - April 9, 2003

Intelligence gathered by this and other governments leaves no doubt that the Iraq regime continues to possess and conceal some of the most lethal weapons ever devised. George W. Bush - Address to the Nation - March 17, 2003

Notice the language here such as "we know, no doubt, like totally fur sure dude, tons of the stuff", leading people and members of government believe that Iraq was one giant pile of WMD's and they were all pointed right at us, talk about a crock.

While Al Qaeda never did have any substantial control over any part of Iraq at any time, one thing is for sure, the bullchip peddlers certainly have control over the fears of those who are so easily led.

All that is left now are those few folks who are still trying to rationalize the reasons they fell for it. However, there is some good because it gives the rest of the folks something to chuckle about now, you know, Saddam and Osama conspiring, Saddam raining down WMD horrors in just minutes onto Washington and NY, Iraqi's killing babies in incubators in Kuwait, and about several hundred other comedic anecdotes produced to sell this war. The stand up alone is worth the price of admission.

Well you know, reciting lies and such doesn't do much for your side of the debate.

Funny thing is,IF you actually WERE correct that would mean Iraq DID have WMDs....

The left has some real 'Rocket Surgeons' on their side.

No, because they actively used those weapons...on the Kurds, for example.

I see...

You're convinced that the Iraq invasion wasn't based on lies?

But you feel qualified to call the other side stupid?

Like Bush/Cheney claimed long and loud.

We don't have Bush, though.

Calling things like chemical and biological agents "weapons of mass destruction" is nothing but political bogosity in the first place. The only real WMD is a nuke.

Invading Iraq to find out that they didn't have any of the "political" WMDs when there was good evidence that none existed truly is stupid.

Welcome to Dubyaville.

What about the Democrats who were making the same claim?

"One way or another, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop WMD and the missiles to deliver them."
- Pres. Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998

"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's WMD."
-Pres. Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998

"He will use those WMD again, as he has ten times since 1983."
- Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb. 18, 1998

"Saddam has been engaged in the development of WMD technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process."
- Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998

"Saddam has... chosen to spend his money on building WMD..."
- Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999

"There is no doubt that Saddam has invigrorated his weapons program. Reports indicate that biological, chemical and nuclear programs continue apace and may be back to pre-Gulf War status. In addition, Saddam continues to redefine delivery systems and is doubtless using the cover of a ilicit missile program to develop longer range missiles which will threaten the U.S. and our allies."
- Letter to Pres. Bush, signed by Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL) and others, Dec. 5, 2001

"We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country."
- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002

"We have known for many years that Saddam is seeking and developing WMD"
- Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002

"There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely use nuclear weapons within the next five years."
- Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D, WV), Oct. 10, 2002

"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members... it is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemcial warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."
- Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct. 10, 2002
