Only people under 30 can get catastrophic plans. Otherwise you have to file for a hardship.
What families have are not catastrophic plans. Those only sold outside of the Obamacare marketplace.
No subsidies and out of pocket is $6K for an individual.
People with Bronze coverage from the marketplace with high deductibles is not a catastrophic plan.
Fiduciarily-mindful and responsible families were able to obtain catastrophic-only plans before ACA 2010.
ACA outlawed catastrophic-only coverage entirely.

Catastrophic health insurance plans have low monthly premiums and very a high deductible — $6,850. They may be an affordable way to protect yourself from worst-case scenarios, like getting seriously sick or injured. You pay most routine medical expenses yourself.
Only people under 30 and people of any age with a hardship exemption from the requirement to have health insurance.

Catastrophic-only health insurance plans are outlawed under Obamacare. Bronze is not a catastrophic-only plan.

LOL..they are not outlawed. If you are under 30 and/or got a hardship exemption you can get a catastrophic plan.
It's right there on healthcare.gov..the Federal Government's website.
I posted the link.
And yes, Bronze is not a catastrophic plan but has an out of pocket of $6K which makes it a high deductible plan. And that is cheaper than the catastrophic out of pocket of $6850.
Now all this was in response to your comment:

In fact catastrophic plans are offered on the healthcare marketplace if you qualify:
From healthcare.gov:
Catastrophic plans cover 3 primary care visits per year, and certain preventive services, at no cost. You have to pay all other medical costs yourself until you reach your deductible –$6,850 in 2016. After that, the plan pays 100% of covered services.
If you’re eligible to buy a Catastrophic plan, you’ll see them displayed when you apply and compare plans in the Marketplace.

Catastrophic plans were obtainable by any age before ACA.
Plans that cover "three annual primary care visits and preventive services at no cost, including disease screenings and vaccinations" are not catastrophic-only plans, no matter what Kathleen Sebelius wants to tell you.

I just went in and viewed the Bronze vs Catastrophic.
The Bronze is actually cheaper out of pocket so anyone that wanted to keep their catastrophic plan gets a better deal with the Bronze for the same money.
Go try it yourself..set your age to 29 years old so the catastrophic plans show up.

Keep referring to them as catastrophic-only plans.
Oh so you're saying they don't exist and the USG is making it up ?
Yes I'm saying that the post ACA 2010 USG taking it upon itself to officially define a catastrophic-only plan using the moniker "Catastrophic Only," under ACA individual mandate--and ACA's charter of determining "essential benefits"--is making it up. Out of wholecloth.
