I get the feeling you don't have any idea how this works.

Actually we did the math.
It would have been cheaper to pay the ACA fine and pay everything out of pocket (bc hospitals and imaging centers and dentists and doctors DO have a discounted self-pay price - for example, our hospital has an 80% self-pay discount) than pay $15k in premiums and another $15k in care.

The only thing ACA did was set minimum standards ... a lot of the old policies were basically worthless.

Please stop. You've just regurgitated an Obama/DNC talking point that has been debunked thousands of times.

And a lot weren't worthless. Which is why Obama is guilty of the biggest lie of the year...

Lie of the Year: 'If you like your health care plan, you can keep it'
Lie of the Year: 'If you like your health care plan, you can keep it' | PolitiFact

Well, guess what... a LOT of people, including people who've vowed to no longer vote Dem after this, couldn't keep the plans they liked and are now forced to pay sky high premiums and deductibles.

The only people happy with Obamacare are the freeloaders.

And don't start the sh*t about covering pre-existing conditions. States had high-risk insurance pools for exactly such persons BEFORE Obamacare even existed.

Based on your post, you don't understand.

All individual plans are off the exchange. Whether you pay $1000 a month for them or get a subsidy. It's all the same plans you're buying.

Which is why I lost all my doctors and every hospital in my town.
None of them wanted to take marketplace plans. So no matter how much I paid (and I paid A LOT), I can't get the network of providers I want bc they don't want individual (again, all marketplace/exchange) plans. They only want corporate (read: PPO type, group) insurance.

You can't keep the plan you had because IT NO LONGER EXISTS.

Why would I do such a thing? Besides the fact that I don't even LIKE the industry, it's not my field of expertise. And I already own my own business, which I like.
