Sure we have a right to Militia and to keep and bear arms. That is gone. The Government has put an end to that little practice that is clearly defined in the Constitution as the 2nd Amendment
Seems the media this morning is all about "Obama coming to take your guns" rhetoric. Out of curiosity how will the President accomplish this and to date has any law abiding citizen been denied his 2nd amendment rights to purchase or own a fire arm?

There have been a couple assault weapons ban so yes, we were denied the right to purchase one. It has since expired and wasn't renewed because statistics showed semi-auto long guns (so called assault rifles) weren't being used in crimes.

Yes, we have all been subject to government control of firearm access.
I guess if I am allowed to buy a bb gun, after passing a government background check, I still have my 2nd amendment and am allowed to buy the firearm.
The 2nd amendment told them the government, you don't do what you are doing today and have done since the Civil War.
But remember, the federal government, kicked the people's asses in the Civil War.
They rewrote the Constitution, so the 10th amendment, no longer existed.
How do you figure? Why do private citizens - who are not part of a well regulated militia - have the right under the second amendment?
Because the second phrase, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed, seems to stand on its own. The first part explains why it was there in the first place but, even though circumstances may have changed, that doesn't negate the wording in the second part.
I'd like to see an amendment something like:
"As the national security of the Unites States is entrusted to the federally-regulated armed forces, the right to keep and bear arms specified in the second amendment may be limited to those arms sufficient for recreational or occupational pursuits, and to persons judged competent in their use."

Written like a good law enforcement officer would. You picked sides. The Hired Gun speaks and bullies will still be bullies, with a gun and a badge.
It means that we as people, can organize and train, without government watching. Government denies that today..... Militias are forbidden by government.
That makes no sense, if people can organize and train then the absolute right to own guns should only apply to those who are organized, not a bunch of yahoos who aren't even required to take a basic gun safety course before they acquire their arsenal.
Arms are not specified in the 2nd amendment. Meaning, we use what ever it takes to suppress oppressive tyranny. Freedom is very scary for those that have none.
Just remember, there is nothing in the 2nd amendment that protects your right to own ammunition.

You don't think the Federal Government has not tried that? LOL!!
It has already been determined by the SC, that you are wrong. That was determined already to be a violation of the 2nd amendment. Arms are not arms without ammo.
Powder, cap, and ball. Made into a cartridge.

Or heavily regulate bullets and make them prohibitively expensive. Same with firearms.
Sure you can own them. Own as many as you want. Be prepared to pay. Much like cigarettes in some states.
