Trump needs constant ego pumps, even if it goes against reality.

Ever since I've joined this forum I've said the polls are extremely important.
I've always said the polls are an important weapon because they force Democrats to be complacent at election time.
I've also said that Trump supporters generally don't answer pollsters, so when you see Trump with a 44% average at RealClearPolitics you know he's going to win the election (and its currently at 43.8).

And if you add 20% to 42.2% you get 62.2%. With numbers like that, how can he lose?

I wouldn't add 20% but I think Trump supporters give pollsters the cold shoulder now more than ever, far more than 2016.

Calling bull on that.

Trump supporters want people to know they support Trump and they know his poll numbers are important to him -- very important -- they are proud to let us all know.

Pollsters are very rude, often phrasing their question in a patronizing anti-Trump way, and no Trump-supporter wants to hear that.
They have that negative experience and then tell their friends and family, and they all avoid pollsters thereafter.

Aaaw, now the pollsters are being rude to people they assume are Trump supporters; aaaaw, that's such a shame.
