Republicans consider it patriotic for the wealthy to take every advantage possible, while paying as little in taxes as possible and paying their employees as little as possible.
I take every advantage possible to get as much as possible from my employer. I have done OK.

Are you kidding me? Incomes of working class folks have STAGNATED for 40 years! Death rates among middle aged working class men are going UP! Unheard of in times of peace. Benefits have been gutted, incomes stagnated, financial security has been decimated for the working class. So why in the world are people focusing on some dust in the corner and not the elephant in the room, the donor class who rule America?
This has always fascinated me. Huge numbers of working class republicans talk about how free stuff is terrible, after 40 years of a massive transfer and redistribution of wealth and income from the working class to the big money donor class. Free stuff is flowing to the donor class in the forms of corporate welfare, trade deals, wars for profits, bailouts, anti-trust laws etc etc etc, keeping the donor class on top while laughing at the working class. I just dont get it. Why are so many republicans not bothered by the elephant in the room ****ting the hole room down but instead they continue to focus on some dust in the corner like food stamp fraud?

My earlier post was ignored........yes, why are people not doing this? Virtually no one did this for the last 7.5 years.
Why? Did it just become a problem now? It didn't get worse under Obama? I understand this is why Sanders is doing as well as he is. That his supporters are tired of this BUT where were they the last 7.5 years?
Why should anyone expect the (R)'s to do what the (D)'s also refused to do the last 7.5 years?
There are some examples of food stamp fraud sure, but its like a little dust in the corner. When the Koch brothers and the Wall Street top dogs donate billions to their puppets, they get TRILLIONS in return. Free stuff to keep them on top at the expense of the working class. They are not stupid! So why do working class folks focus on the little dust in the corner and not the elephant in the room?

The Johnston analysis, in the end, is just an extreme case of liberal negativism about living standards. As I discuss in my new essay for National Affairs, “Overstating the Costs of Inequality,” the median household in the U.S. is twice as rich as it was in 1960, at the peak of the supposed “Golden Age” the American middle class. Too many commentators refuse to see that and are all-too-ready to accept the most outlandish claims about living standards. As I’ve argued before, this sort of thing sows economic insecurity and works against continued improvement in our standard of living. And it detracts from real-world problems.

The progressive caucus in Congress has focused on these issues for decades ever since Sanders founded it in 1991 when he entered Congress. These are FDR democrats, New Dealers, serving the people and no one else. They are of course up against hundreds of puppets in Congress, but who in the world elected these puppets if not working class folks?
