The FDA killed tens of thousands of Americans with heart problems in the 60's and tens of thousands of those with HIV in the 80's and continue to kill Americans today by prohibiting the use of drugs until they have gone through safety and effectiveness testing well beyond what is most beneficial to the health of the population.

Once again you see a liberal defending the very institution that is the source of corruption; government. Repeal Kefauver- Harris and those donations that big pharm makes shrinks dramatically. Plus more Americans would live longer. But that is not a big government solution. I am sure the left will wish to increase the power of the FDA to combat such corruption.
Once again, you can reform the system without killing it and stripping away important consumer protections.
You realize there were over 1000 pre-1962 drugs that were found to be ineffective, right? That's a full 30.5% of drugs that were tested.
Are you kidding me? Incomes of working class folks have STAGNATED for 40 years! Death rates among middle aged working class men are going UP! Unheard of in times of peace. Benefits have been gutted, incomes stagnated, financial security has been decimated for the working class. So why in the world are people focusing on some dust in the corner and not the elephant in the room, the donor class who rule America?
Yep. Millions of job have gone to China and elsewhere. And may billion$ have gone to the Mideast over its oil. So now the tallest skyscrapers in the world are in China and the Mideast.
I'd rather give money to people who contribute to society that to people who take from society.
