Because that is what the government is after. Campaign money.

Obamacare and it's failures to control cost is very relevant here.

Many FDA employees are former pharmaceutical company employees who go to work for the FDA - get their pension and return to the companies for big 6 figure positions - maintaining their contacts in the FDA - a bit of collusion here. But despite the increase - the ones really paying are the insurance companies as if you go to the Mylen site - their is a card you can sign up for to pay $0 co-pays. https://www.activatethecard.com/epip...4HdQ&gclsrc=ds

Mylen does indeed donate to the Clinton Foundation and despite what others feel - it's Washington -scratch my back - I'll scratch yours. Clinton may very well have pulled strings with the FDA - holding up and not approving other companies that would have been competition.
That's good to know, hope physicians are telling their patients of this. Six refills if you have insurance and qualify. Non-insured definitely out of luck.

it is quite possible to build a web of patents around a device such that it can be difficult to impossible to construct a competitive device. Xerox actually reached such a situation in the 70s and 80s but was defeated by regulatory actions that forced it to allow competitors to use Xerox patents. It was, of course, possible to build competitive copiers but none that were viable in the market place. Both HP and the Japanese would never have been able to launch a competitive product without the government running interference.

The same is true of the epipen. They have woven a tight patent net and basically have the competition blocked. Mies may blame the FDA but the truth is a good job has been done to prevent a competent competitive device and the FDA declines ones that don't work well. The Mies solution is let them go with the inferior device even if they kill a few.

Sometimes the sin of the child is visited upon their parent. It doesn't always happen the other way around.

There is such a thing as an honest profit, and there is also a dishonest profit. America has seen plenty of both throughout its history.
There was once a time when monopolies ruled, all over the nation, in every vital aspect of everyone's life. When the Robber Barons became so egregious that they caused the death of others, especially innocents, our government stepped in and broke all their monopolies up for good.

If it happened once, it will happen again, patents or not. Dead children never create long-term approval of any product, no matter how good it is. The price has to be justifiable in some realistic way, or the Epipen's patents could become public domain.

It happened to Bayer's aspirin and when a host of patented vaccines were denied to the public due to expense of the products. It happened when the railroads quit bringing coal to cities for heat in a long, freezing winter, due to denial of vital needs. Sometimes the public welfare takes precedence over all others.

But the Clinton Foundation had nothing to do with this, contributions or not.

Nothing but a bunch of losers, now a generic version will be sold at half price

What happens? Complaints the generic version might possibly be defective.

Some people deserve not to have anything.

Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn., has introduced a bill that would repeal the ban on negotiations, but it is stalled in the Senate Finance Committee.

The Republicans, which control the Senate Finance Committee, continue to block any price negotiation legislation.

The above article does NOT state "They had the votes to make this happen in 2009-10."

The Affordable Care Act has massive problems, and one of the biggest is out-of-control drug prices compounded by high deductibles on available plans.

Yet for many Americans, Obamacare was a savior, especially those with pre-existing conditions and the working poor. Despite all of their attacks on Obamacare, the Republicans have never fulfilled their promise to produce a superior solution to replace it. Why not?
Compltete b.s. as time has shown. Did this (bold) come from a dem talking point? It sure reads that way.

Has anyone heard any Democrat speak out what a disgrace this increase and price gauging is?

I haven't and we all know why. $ 250,000 was given to the Clinton Foundation. Pay to Play and shut your mouth money!
