Carrier jobs were saved, but not all United Technologies jobs.

Carrier is a subsidiary.

Total Indiana taxpayer monies paid to Carrier $7,000,000.00.

What a deal for Carrier !

It absolutely doesn't say that.

I don't think Trump is in any way, shape or form a traditional republican.

We need to move past party labels anyway.

He's got his own brand of political beliefs. That is a positive to me.

Now we'll see how well it all works out.

That's the reason this thread exists for crying out loud.
Well the establishment base would've criticized Obama because they're ultra pro business and it wouldve been seen as arm strangling. But Trumps populism changed that. The GOP doesn't want to look anti Trump anymore so they're jumping on the populist bandwagon

What we are seeing is an opportunistic Republican politician (Trump) taking advantage of a demographic (blue collar whites) that feels alienated by their traditional party (the Democrats). So yeah it's all mixed up.

Once Trump does these few symbolic deals, he will go back to doing what Republicans (and modern day Democrats) normally do: work for the benefit of the donor class and against the interests of the remaining 99.9% of Americans.

The problem with the auto bailout is that:

1, GM did go through a bankruptcy despite lies from Obama and Biden to the contrary

2, GM got a special bankruptcy where they didn't have to make special changes, even GM's CEO said this was a problem

3, They threw a mountain of cash in a variety of forms at GM and paying back a loan is a deception.

They sat back and watched Obama do it for 8 years so they learned something, right?

Trump isn't a typical Republican and didn't run as one. Some of his policies were completely contrary to what BOTH the Republicans AND Democrats believe in.
