Me neither. I mean I do feel a bit uneasy about Dean Cain being a Trump voter but I'm certainly not obsessing about it in the way that OP is doing and the thing that gets me is these are the same people that says "no one cares about celebrities". Well why are you bringing it up over and over again if you don't care?
It always gets me when people bash celebrities in this way. You'd think Meryl was the one that got elected president so what difference does it make?
I dislike Taylor Swift a lot and even I don't talk about her this much. Heck even Chris Brown who is a clearly awful person doesn't get this much of my attention. Then again I am a huge music lover so I try to respect the musicians I don't like...but still. I ignored Trump when he wasn't running for president.

Never once has Donald Trump ever said anything about sending all foreigners home, she's just trying to equate all immigrants with illegal immigrants like the the rest of the left wing idiots in this country who are willing to sell our sovereignty for a couple new democrat voters.

So you voted for the most elite guy ever because?

When Meryl Streep comes out and says someone is not right for the country, you know things are bad. She usually is very reserved in her opinions and stays pretty low key. Just goes to show you how much distrust and dislike there is toward Trump. Someone like Streep, who is not only an American icon, but loved and respected, will make a lot of people stop and think.
I liked her before, and like her even more now for having the courage and integrity to do this.
|
Well put and I think it's also telling that someone who plays a dragon lady in movies doesn't like Trump. He must be bad when even Miranda Priestley calls him out

And then you have people who are just famous for being famous. People who have nothing to offer but vulgar self-promotion and egotistical vanity. And sometimes, you elect one of those entertainers President Of The United States.
So quit this stupid lecturing about how celebrities have no power or influence over people.
One certainly had power over a bunch of you.

The person you're replying to I guess doesn't get it because they've never been enlightened by art..seems sad when you think about it but I feel this way too. Musicians I put on a higher importance than actors but actors are important too. Actors allow you to escape into a world and forget your troubles or they allow you to feel less alone when you see a relatable character. When that relatable character triumphs it can give you hope..even if just for a moment.

Right I would never blame the fact I don't have a job on actors or musicians. They had nothing to do with it. They're just doing what they love to do and they can easily struggle doing so. The entertainment world is wonderful but at the same time it's not all glamour. Sometimes they have to make a lot of money to pay the rest of their team.

I'll give you that but she did just suffer a loss with Carrie Fisher apparently so maybe she was too upset.
Maybe she thanked them in the past. She should thank them everytime but it's not the worst thing in the world.

Its funny to see Obama haters cry. He wasn't divisive. He recognized that America is filled with more than white Christians and sought to unify the nation that includes all colors, religions, etc. Too bad you people see that as taking away your rights. Says a lot about you and where your head is at.

Me neither. I'm going to keep talking until things change for the better.
I do know that most of the time you can't change ignorant people's minds but that doesn't mean I can't try. If nothing else, it tells the universe what I want and the universe will show them the light.

Well of course like I've said many times before: it's about the $$$$
Of course Meryl Streep is rich but Trump is richer as well as have a history of always being so and now he's president so apparently he has a double excuse. We can also throw in he's a businessman so that makes it okay (I've actually witnessed people using the excuse that he is a businessman)

Streep was awesome & the fact that the man child cry baby just had to tweet about it confirms how awesome she was. Well done Meryl!!!!!

They are the ones who got exactly what they wanted and they're still going on about it. When Obama was president and people were insulting him, I didn't give a damn. I might have expressed my opinion that it was wrong to bash him sometimes but I didn't go on and on about it. I didn't even make a thread about it. I just replied to other people. Yet these Trumpettes make threads about it over and over again. The funniest part is they tell us to get over it. Better yet this is a thread with 74 pages..many of these posts coming from Trump supporters.
Yeah you really don't care huh?

I have no problems with her speech about Trump, I feel the same way. I think it is kind of low to make fun of a disabled reporter, he should own up to his mistakes. But the arrogance Streep shows is kind of shocking too. Everybody has a different definition of what "art" is. Someone view movie watching as a type of entertainment; someone (like me) enjoy art museum and sports. (I perhaps won't be watching MMA because I know nothing about it and that is the only reason) If All the film makers decided to leave, nothing will change in my life. I still have my sports and my art. So she thinks too highly of herself and her fellow "artists."

I have no problem with people enjoying sports. If that's what some people enjoy good for them so it'd be one thing if she said something like "people are stupid for liking sports" but I find sports to be a lower form of entertainment because it doesn't really have meaning. To me most sports is just kicking a ball around. It doesn't create emotion like real art forms would.

Yup, years ago I used to be a homophobe. Does that mean that's what I am? Sometimes I even feel bad about my past judgement about gay people. It's possible that Streep is the same way about her praise of Roman Polanski.

Hilary and Trump are two different people so your argument is moot.

Yeah and there is no pleasing people. They say the actors/musicians care too much about money and then when they do something that might make them lose money, they say they need to shut up.
Which is it?

Maybe so but I never really liked the Cosby show that much particularly the main character. I didn't know why but now I do.
You can't fault people for not knowing though. Some people are rather bad at reading people.

I agree. The nature of that gesture is mean spirited.
I'm all for a good joke or roast (after all in this very post I deliver snark) but that wasn't funny or warranted.
