Even if the Feds legalize it, states can still make it illegal. The best thing to do is get it off the Fed list altogether and let states decide.

National legalization. Excise taxes up to states and local jurisdictions.

In 2016, Colorado sold over $1.3 BILLION worth marijuana sales, which in turn generated $150 MILLION in tax revenue. Nearly $45M of that tax revenue goes directly to Colorado public schools.

So, to recap: 18,000 jobs in Colorado's legal marijuana industry, and nearly $50M in tax revenue from weed sales that goes directly to public schools.

Question for people that want the federal gov't to enforce marijuana drug laws: Are YOU going to come out to Colorado and tell 18,000 people they're out of a job because "big government" (something conservatives dont' like by the way) is coming in and overriding state law? Are YOU going to come out here to Denver and tell elementary school teachers who need supplies for their students that the $50M in tax revenue from marijuana salesthat supports Colorado public schools is no longer available? No, i didn't think you were.
Can a conservative who wants federal marijuana laws enforced lease quote me and address this?

So, in essence the federal government is going to do its job and this is a problem?

Trump isn't saying anything new. He is just stating as he has done with other federal responsibilities defined by law and the Constitution that as far as he is concerned he will do his best to make sure that federal law as it currently stands is upheld and enforced.

If Congress decides to pass a new law regarding the use of marijuana then the federal government will just enforce that too. If you have an issue with a federal law being enforced, then why do we have a Congress or federal government at all?

One can argue that perhaps we should dispense with this particular federal law - and if so, argue with Congress about that - Trump cannot fix that alone. He has, as far as I can see, done nothing to ATTACK anyone anywhere in this regard. The slant is completely liberal .. and accusatory .. where accusations and innuendo are not warranted.

Except that, like with most everything, he is. He said during his campaign that iit should be left up to the states.

The real irony is how Sessions just put the "Ok" back to private prisons at the same time marijuana went into Federal crosshairs. It's pathetic really.

And Melissa McCarthy...I mean Sean Spicer claims they are doing this to fight opioid addiction
No surprise given his choice for attorney general.
All that "state's rights" stuff he spewed during the campaign was just that, BS.

How does that work exactly when it was the voters that chose to amend their own state constitutions?

What recreational marijuana actually is, at least in Colorado, is a billion dollar industry that provides all sorts of monetary benefits everyone in the state.

Do people honestly believe that states are not going to fight to keep this revenue?
