The twitter link cited by the OP belongs to a young woman who calls herself an anarchist. She also stated that she was the "only activist" present at yesterday's demonstration. Evidently she equates activism to anarchism. However, her photos show her simply standing with a sign, not engaging in any illegal activity at all.

There is no question that the others who participated in this demonstration were entirely peaceful and were attacked by foreign thugs associated with another country - Turkey - on neutral American soil. The demonstrators were not on Turkish property but were in a public park.

Trump's failure to speak out and condemn this violent and completely uncivilized attack on innocent civilians speaks volumes about him and his loyalties.

Trump needs to speak up. If he can't do that - he needs to leave to make room for someone who can defend our democracy and our rights.

The Turkish Ambassador will no doubt have to answer to the US Government regarding the events and there may be a warning that any repeat of such violence on US terrirory will be met with a more robust response.

Foreign Embassies in London have also been the subject of much controversy over the years, the 1980 Iranian Embassy Siege, the 1984 killing of WPC Yvonne Fletcher and Libtyan Embassy siege and closure of the Libyan Embassy, the 1994 London Israeli Embassy bombing and more recently the case of Julian Assange who is currently residing in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, whilst Embassies such as the Syrian Embassy and Iranian Embassy have been closed in recent years. There are also numerous crime committed by those who have Diplomatic Immunity including serious crimes such as rape and murder.

I am all for just closing Embassies in terms of nations whose diplomats continually cause problems, the alternative being a Consulate where most staff don't have diplomatic immunity and which deals with problems such as lost passports tather than diplomatic negotiations.

Embassy Security also has no power outside of the Embassy itself and it's grounds, and the Turks have violated the Vienna Convention through their recent actions and should be punished.

I think most people would be shocked by the extent of diplomatic immunity in their country, for instance in the UK alone there are an estimated 22,500 people in who are entitled to diplomatic immunity, with the vast majority being based in London Embassies.

AND it happened in the capital of our nation! This will be PROOF that we are no longer a beacon of democracy to other nations, unless Trump condemns it!

Which he won't because he is weak. And utterly clueless as to how Turkish thugs just pissed on our flag!

The title of this thread needs to be changed to reflect the truth. The Turkish Embassy was not attacked, in fact this incident/atrocity was no where near the Turkish Embassy but across the street from the home of the Turkish ambassador,.

More importantly, Erdogan's thuggish bodyguards did not "defend" anything - they violently attacked and seriously injured innocent demonstrators who were not on Turkish property but in a public park, making full use of their Constitutionally guaranteed freedom of speech.

The title of this thread is a lie, actually, two lies in one. Moderators, please take note.

Talk about "fake news"...

In all fairness, I believe this literally just happened a few hours ago. Give the President at least a day, perhaps he doesn't even know about the situation. A serious situation but not code red, something that probably needs to be addressed but not immediately.

He has better things to worry about than some whiny ANTIFA scum and her terrorist pals being beat down for harassing and attacking the Turkish president's embassy/residence.

Yeah, maybe he is trying on a new golf wardrobe.

Many things more important than foreign thugs attacking free speech in the nations capital. That is , assuming the constitution is meaningless to you, which it apparently is.

If you cannot defend democracy and your own citizenry in the nations capital, why should any nation trust us? That is what Putin was trying to prove when he attacked our election process , now Trump helps Putin's cause: impugning democracy.

The only thing more pitiful than this weak man are those who defend him at the expense of our constitution.

There's a video made by an NBC reporter who was in the thick of it. Other videos are appearing on other news outlets and on YouTube. There is no question what happened, and it's not what the OP of this thread claims at all.

Erdogan's goonish bodyguards attacked civilian protestors who had assembled in a public park across the street from the home of the Turkish ambassador. This did not take place at the Turkish embassy, which is another place entirely. Erdogan was inside the residence at the time, following his earlier meeting with Trump.

Erdogan's business-suited bodyguards ran across the street and physically attacked the peaceful protestors, who were mostly Kurds, with some Greeks and Yazidis and Americans also present. The bodyguards punched and kicked the protestors, even after they had fallen to the ground, sending nine to the hospital, two in serious condition. The police were overwhelmed and did not respond adequately. Two arrests were made - I have not yet learned who these two individuals were or why they were arrested. The protestors attempted to defend themselves when they were attacked, but they did NOT start this debacle.

No word as of yet about any official response or protest from the American government. What are they waiting for??
