Jeff Bergman is the judge who authorized the warrants. He is a long standing member of the Republican Attorney Association. He was appointed to his position by Sessions. Christie hit the morning shows this morning to defend Bergman and to communicate this is not a partisan issue.

In the meantime Trump is out there yapping about how the Democrats broke into his attorney’s office and in doing so seeks to create a partisan issue while ignoring FBI has a warrant. Obviously, some of his supporters prefer to believe whatever he says/ tweets. As usual, Trump is the source of fake news.

Comey: Republican.

Mueller: Republican.

Rosenstein: Republican.

US Attorney for the Southern District of New York: Republican

That pretty much sums it up.

People who attribute this to a political scheme of the Democrats have either been hoaxed by their own sources which they trust for information (an increasingly common problem), or are deliberately spinning and hoaxing by themselves, right here on C-D.

Mr. Geoffrey Berman was appointed by President Donald Trump in January of this year to replace Preet Bharara, famously fired by President Trump last year. He had to sign off on this raid, and a judge had to issue the warrant. This was 'possibly' put in the desk of Jeff Sessions, since it is not connected with the Russia investigation, he is not recused.

Meet the US Attorney
Quote:
Geoffrey S. Berman is the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York. As U.S. Attorney, Mr. Berman oversees the investigation and litigation of all criminal and civil cases brought on behalf of the United States in the Southern District of New York. He supervises an office of about 220 Assistant U.S. Attorneys, who handle a high volume of important cases, including domestic and international terrorism, white collar crime, securities and commodities fraud, public corruption, cybercrime, narcotics and arms trafficking, gang violence, organized crime, and civil rights violations.
Prior to becoming U.S. Attorney on January 5, 2018, Mr. Berman was a partner at a major New York law firm.
Mr. Berman served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney from 1990 to 1994, where he handled complex criminal prosecutions, including tax, securities, and computer hacking violations.

That is really amusing.

I was talking to someone on the right about this yesterday, before I had heard or read any news about it, and the things they said were almost direct quotes from Hannity and Huckabee. I could predict the things that would be said virtually word for word.

$500/night?

Cohen needs to contact Pruitt about this AirBnB $50/night arrangement for a 2 bedroom condo.

Sorry to break it to you but history did not start in this country in January 2017.
Implying that a President colluded with the Russians, and sitting a prosecuting sniper in an office to threaten POTUS and to act as a partisan sharp object based on no charges immediately after an election in which the entirety of the MSM, the National Security Apparatus, much of his own party, and FBI agents went completely off of the rails against him is many times more controversial than any one of those other things mentioned.

Do you know what the meaning of "controversy" is or are you conflating this word with anything that makes headlines?

Controversy means that there is stark disagreement.

Who agreed with Nixon taping his opponents? Where was there a two year investigation to uncover evidence that did not yet exist in that situation?

Whitewater was controversial but not to the level of implying treason of a recently elected POTUS. There was no such rampant smell of partisan conspiracy against Clinton outside of the Republican Party. And Clinton ultimately weathered that just fine.

Birtherism? As far as I know, the MSM made sure that stayed relegated to the conservative talk and news sphere. You can't compare permanently planting an independent investigator to snipe POTUS.

Benghazi? First, the Secretary of State is not the president. Second, when during that controversy did the MSM and the NatSec apparatus go all in against Obama/Clinton (Clinton being both unelected, and thus not comparable to Trump, and the primary target of conservative ire in that situation)?

No, history did not start in January 2017. But it would be ridiculous to pretend that any of this has much of a precedent as far as controversy is concerned

Read on the Pruitt thread that a freedoms of information request by reporter at The Daily Beast asking for all threats against Pruitt's life (the justification for his extensive security detail) was returned with 0 results--
So looks like the SS was correct in its threat assessment of danger Pruitt faces...
