Wonder if this has something to do with the conflicts in Yemen and Syria esp. the way the US got drawn in recently, seems like any disruption there sends gas prices way up

They’ll find a way to blame Obama and the Democrats for this one too.

So oil companies are trying to manipulate the price by drilling for more oil?

Technology is mostly the invention of gadgets that consume energy. In most of the country, your smartphone still gets its energy from fire, a very old technology. It’s a remarkable fact that our high tech devices are mostly powered by coal (and natural gas).

Wind and solar costs have come down substantially, thanks to slave labor in China. So wind/solar might be doable if someone can invent an ultra-cheap battery.
We'll see, think about life in the US just 50 years ago.

Maybe gas is not expensive enough.
Well, I’ve never said that Americans are smart. In fact, they aren’t.

Here is a straight US consumption graph. You can clearly see the seasonality of demand.

You can also see the large consumption dip during the financial crisis in this chart.
Lol...I’m having a little fun.

That said, i still haven’t been convinced of the supply and demand arguments. I repped your earlier post. You were right about domestic pricing.

Go back a little further. You will see the decline in rigs, all an attempt to stop the price from dropping.

Was a CNBC report just about every week. Now the Saudi's, Big oil and speculators get to push the price up.

Right now the number of rigs being restarted is about 1/2 of the total in 2015. Rig count up to 1085, price should be dropping.

Sometimes prices will drop in order to cause problems for a competitior. If you are getting at collusion being involved you wouldn't be off base for saying that.

The west-coast, UCK, $3.15 a gallon and up. I was getting gas in AZ and NM not too long ago for close to 2-bucks a gallon.

It's too late to change the damage that has been done. Even if i beamed every car and person off the planet it is still gonna super heat over the next 1500 years.
