NFL players think Trump should not be in the country.

For crying out loud...this thread is still up? Libs and Trump haters, like it or not the majority of the country agrees with Trump on this stupid issue. It's a freaking game and Trump is cheerfully trolling you folks on possibly the least important issue this country has ever had to deal with.

As to why, I can think of a few reasons.

1. He has an opportunity to be self-righteous and bullying.

2. He has an opportunity to insult black people.

3. He has an opportunity to ignore genuine grievances.

4. He has the opportunity to seem patriotic - important for a draft-dodger.

5. He has an opportunity to distract from the Russia investigation.

Trumpers confusing jingoism with freedom? Oh, we better force everyone to stand during the anthem. And on and on it goes, and we're supposed to ignore it?

Obviously it is about the money. And I won't patronize a low-class, sell-out organization like the NFL who will tolerate and support any form of idiocy to protect their income while at the same time pretending to be "patriots" and the "true spirit of America." Real American values don't include: punching out your fiances, dog-fighting, or believing that "standing when Dear Leader says so" is a good idea.
^^^^^ My main point...and why I started my post with the sentence that I did, and NOT the sentence you highlighted....is that the owners are not trying to placate Trump and, given your other post I responded to and the part of your post above that I bolded, you obviously think that they are.

Unless something has come out in the media that I'm not aware of, the only NFL owner who is good friend of Trump's is Patriots owner Robert Kraft...and Kraft has been known to disagree with Trump.

How can somebody like him with so many possibilities available DO nothing and remain a glorified man-child: small, angry, petty, with a mind rusted shut and a heart that can feel neither wonder nor love... It's sad, really.
Because he doesn't let himself get out of the cage that his father withholding his love represents. He doesn't allow himself to believe that his father was wrong for being like that. Pathetic really, and the example of Roy Cohn provided fuel to feed his tendencies.

A bit of headline fraud here. Note that Trump includes the qualifier "MAYBE" while OP conveniently drops it. Trump is obviously right that they should not be in the game if they kneel. Every player knows, before entering the NFL, that the anthem is played before every game. If they have a problem with the anthem, there's a simple solution: don't accept the job. They could instead get jobs in fast food. I've never heard the anthem being played in a McDonald's.

If you're offended by prayer, don't take a job in a church. If you're offended by sex, don't take a job as a porn star. If you're offended by the anthem, don't take a job in the NFL. That's not fascism, it's plain common sense. Those who think otherwise don't know the definition of fascism.

We both agree that President Trump is entitled to his opinion. I also agree with you that the stance that he is taking is very unconstitutional. But then again, I think this is what some people want to see, people like Kaepernick kicked out of the USA. Personally, I have no problems with what Kaepernick is doing. There was a part of me that figured he was doing this as a publicity stunt to get away from the 49ers (as he was not getting as much playing time as he used to). I know why he is doing it now. He seems very committed. As someone who does have concerns about police brutality, I get it.

He has a right to say what he thinks. But as the President of the USA, he needs to check certain things at the door. His vulgar ways and his unconstitutional stance, those are things he needs to check at the door. And I agree with you, the NFL players have a right to kneel during the national anthem. I will stand for the national anthem. I won't get offended if some NFL players kneel during the anthem.

There is a big difference between what the American Revolution was about and what the Confederate cause was about. Last time I checked, we're no longer England. We are the USA. And the Confederate state cause was a disgusting cause.

One difference. This isn't England anymore. And the American Revolution was for reasons far more noble than the Confederate cause. Big difference between fighting taxation without representation, and fighting to keep slavery around. The Confederate cause was the latter cause. Furthermore, the Confederates got their rear end handed to them (and I'm glad they did). After that, it was back in the USA.
