I grew up in a religious sect that hasn’t assimilated into American society since they first arrived in 1838. It’s a highly insular community to this day. But it’s nearly 100% white, so nobody is worried.
the last I checked the Mormons, Amish, Hutterites, Mennonites or whatever you ran away from didn't kill if if you lingered in the neighborhoods to long....

Being a longtime resident of Mpls I am of 2 minds about this. First it is true, many Somalis would like to go back to their homeland, unfortunately it's a lawless, war torn country, so it's not an option.
But, many of the things being said about Somalis are the same things that were being said about the Hmong in the later 70s and early 80s. There were problems with their culture blending with ours, they had trouble with the kids running wild and now no one differentiates them in any way, they are just Americans.

He is an asset to his community and you think we should throw his tax paying, senior citizen serving, self out because he was born in Somali but has been living here for 27 some odd years. Ridiculous and beyond that a loss to the community.
