Aaaaw; are you upset? Never mind this embarrassment will pass. It usually just takes a couple of hours for lemmings to get back on the march. You'll be fine.

So Trump isn't just giving away our present. He's also giving away our future.
Oh my God you don't get it do you. The world montary standard is the dollar. Our Credit markets, Stock markets and money markets are the strongest in the world. We are the number one energy producing country in the world. We take on more imported good than anyone else in the world. Sure we owe China a ton of money. They could take it out of the bond market if they wanted too. It would plunge us into a depression and bankrupt China and Russia at the same time. Who do you think would survive long term if such a thing were to occur. We allowed these countries to abuse us for far too long. They should have been dealt with like children. Trust, but verify. Trump is setting this country up for the next 50 years of prosperity.

The thing I don't get about the UN/EU is that they aren't providing an alternative to the US being a world leader...

If the US wants to withdraw and lick its wounds to regain strength, the rest of the world literally CAN'T force the US to not withdraw...

the UN/EU needs to step forward themselves and put in more effort, what happened to all the UN peacekeeping missions from the 1990s? They aren't happening..

The power void that the US is leaving behind will force EU/UN to step forward or they will be faced with a Europe/Asia of the 1900s, one where each country has their own military force, where they have to be weary of multiple military forces. The biggest asset to them having the US as the dominate force is that they only have a SINGLE country to deal with, without the US, they will have to deal with multiple countries

Either they aid the US more in keeping the US afloat, or they can fill the void that the US leaves behind in its entirety

The North American hemisphere will be safe, there is literally 3 countries in it. Outside of Australia, what other continent has fewer "military" forces? There's a reason every modern war since the 1900s took place outside of the North American continent.

no I don't like Trump much, he is crass, uncouth and personally detestable... but he's still doing decent as a president to me. What the UN did, they can take it and shove it.

I just heard the speech of the president of Venezuela. I don't agree with his politics and even less with the way they manage the economy, which has let to an incredible corruption and violence in that country, but I think it is good to hear the side of the person you disagree with.

Most world leaders nowadays can't even give a speech, a lot of times they can't even read their speech properly. Maduro's speech was good, worthwhile the 50 min.

The thing that is really, really sad and incongruous about this is no longer just what he says. His outrageous, over-the-top, dysfunctional behavior is predictable. (We would be shocked if he behaved decently, coherently and with any degree of ethics and decorum.) Nor that his base supports him.

Who need perpetual motion kicking machines targeting their glutei maximi are republican congresspeople and White House staff who keep pretending the huge elephant that is a constant presence in most every room they're in isn't there. Integrity be damned. As long as they've figured a way to get theirs theirs from this ethically and mentally impaired old guy. There were conversations early on about back channels with Russia and other countries. I think Republicans have their back channels to the White House that bypass Trump. Then Trump's staff is doing lots of smoke and mirrors, ruse and subterfuge to further get things by him. We don't have an actual president. Just this babbling old crackpot that people are doing end runs around. Just let him blather on. Few find him credible and are used to it. Kind of like bleeding grandiose, demented old grandpa's bank account before anybody else in the family gets wise. But on a larger national scale.

This says a lot more about you, than it does the poster, or John Oliver.
