well, Military =/= shoot people just because they want to.
They follow strict rules of engagement. I think the military will be SAFER for the civilians who just want to come here for a job.

Wait - let's do the math. If 1700 applied, and 4500 turned back to Honduras - wow, that comes to 6200 people who have decided not to continue with the caravan. Then who is making up the caravan? According to Mexico, there were only 4000 in the caravan three days ago, though other sources claim there are about 10,000.

Then perhaps the military should concentrate on smoking out all those profiting from cheap labor and paying them those billions, they're a bigger threat to the country than those merely trying to feed their families!
Yes, send military units to their company headquarters, the average exec at one of these places is NEVER going to engage in gun battles to protect their profits!

Mexico is a lot better than the US in many ways for people willing to work hard. Certainly more personal freedom and less government regulation of commerce. Try to open a taco stand in New York.

Homeland Security officials said Tuesday that among the thousands of migrants heading for the United States border are some “gang members” and people with “significant criminal histories.”
Department spokesperson Tyler Houlton said on Twitter that the caravan, 7,000 migrants strong by some estimates, includes citizens not only of Central American countries, but also of the Middle East, Africa, South Asia and “elsewhere.”
“@DHSgov can confirm that there are individuals within the caravan who are gang members or have significant criminal histories,” another tweet read. He did not offer more specifics.
Citizens of countries outside Central America, including countries in the Middle East, Africa, South Asia, and elsewhere are currently traveling through Mexico toward the U.S.

Those police depts RELY on consistent flow of Mexican drugs coming in though. It would be devastating to law enforcement if the drug flow was shut down, even temporarily.
Also, they are averaging about 42 miles a day. I don't think that women pushing strollers, little kids, and the elderly can keep that pace. So who are these 7000 people and where are they from, if so many have "turned back?"
