A most interesting article, which the image below does a good job of summarizing. By almost any metric that matters, the thing that has been the psyche of Americans that the "American Dream" was something to aspire to and one that was never ending, it is clear that things have changed.
The erosion has occurred over time, but it seems like in the last 20 years, it has declined in reality of being achieved.

BTW, nowhere in the article does it give the numbers of Americans who defected!

Correct. That's what I am saying. Canada is successful because it lives in a very good neighborhood.
If America were located on the shores of Lake Victoria, it would be far less successful.
And if Canada were bordered by the Aral Sea, it would be less successful.

Funny how Americans don't feel the need to write articles illustrating how we are better than Canada. I'm not a psychiatrist but that would indicate to me the presence of an inferiority complex.
Btw, the current unemployment rate for the US is 4.6%, for Canada it is 5.6%.

If your rich, America is a great place to be.
It has everything if you have the money to buy it, including politicians.
If your poor, it ranks down pretty low as a desirable place to be, especially with a low mobility rate and expensive cost of living compared to other countries.
This trend only seems to be getting worse as well and people will be voting with their feet.

Yup that's a dream credit card you folks have there...The government spends and you and your kids pay the bill when it comes due.

To be honest, no it can't. But that's because it isn't what you just described above - a brutal invader, coercer and extortionist bully that doesn't plan to pay off its debts (and everyone that it bullies knows it). I don't know why you think those are admirable traits. Those aren't the things that make a country great in the eyes of the world.
