Like college educations, the cost of child care has exploded. It is crippling many families. I don't think this is the solution but it is a problem that society should address.

Also- many parents already get "vouchers" for childcare costs. I'm not sure how this would change that.
I agree it is a problem. Free childcare for the majority of working families is not the solution.
I think less government regulation in child care is.

Having a child is a 100% voluntary event. No one is FORCED to have a child, so since it is optional, I think the parents should accept the consequences of their actions.
That is a lie. The child credit is $2000.

This ploy is about buying votes for the Democratic party, nothing less. "Free" this and that is their mantra, with no regard for who is picking up the tab.

Car mechanic.....plumber.....HVAV technician.....LPNs.....plenty of marketable fields that don't require a 4-year degree. And, yes....it is cheap. Cheap enough to be covered by Pell Grants.

C students should not be going to college. Either they drop out or flunk out (what a waste of money) or college will be dumbed down to allow medicore students to earn what will then be a meaningless B.A.

Sorry, but college is not for everyone. For the so-so kids, they need to learn a trade.

Wonder how many goodies they are going to propose between now and election time.,

We can add universal childcare onto medicare for all and $500 prize each month to Democratic proposals.

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/02/12/kama...e-incomes.html

So far, Kamala is proposing a $500 gift a month for families and Warren is proposing universal childcare that is free for families who make less than $50,000 and no more than 7% of income for those above $50,000

They have also proposed Medicare for All but there is no viable way to pay for it, so they want people to trust them that they know what they are doing.
Very happy to see these proposals and conversations started.
Thanks for posting this OP!

Georgia used to offer free in state 4 year education funded by the education lottery proceeds but I think they cut it out in 2011 or so.
Now they offer a more limited Hope Career Grant of free college education if you enroll in one of the 12 eligible fields and also meet their other requirements.

Here is what I found on it.

Most can't afford that luxury- however, we should support the children of working families, as that is the backbone of the us. Lot of future leaders in that cohort.

I am for anything that helps working families with children.

Such a measure is a much better "investment" than spending $100 billion per year on illiterate illegals, who are a drain on the us economy.
