I view all societies like that as ignorant and prejudiced, no matter which country. With the knowledge available these days, people shouldn't care what ethnicity someone else is. I don't

Not for nothing, you sound like someone who has lived a very sheltered life.

Really. Why would you immediately talk about someone Latino as "Mexican". I know some Latinos that would jump you for saying that to their face.

I’m white and I live in a neighborhood with no black people, or other ethnicities that I know of. It’s not because I chose this, but because they haven’t chosen to move here. People DO like to live among their own, and what is wrong with that?

When I was a kid, there were families of various ethnicities interspersed in the neighborhood. Those families were first generation Americans and were proud of it. They did not cling to the old country.

Actually, there are many individuals who did better when they aren't around their own. And this is in spite of being single out and treated poorly.

There is friction associated with other problems. Detroit is not especially diverse. That place is an awful place to live. Many people there are of the same race and can't get along with each other. The murder rate reflects that.
