I hope you were being sarcastic because young people most definitely need to worry about this. They are getting the disease too and of course even with no symptoms they are carriers to others.
Not one bit. Weak immune systems are the problem. scaring everyone home is creating panic, fear, hoarding and shortages.
If your immune system is compromised stay home. The world cant shut down for you.
I canceled my hair appointment early this week for today because we are self quarantining due to age. my hair person laughed on the phone that i was panicking. she is in her 60s, too. I told her i would pay her for the next two appointments and will not be coming into the shop anytime soon. I'm not panicking, however. i'm following the recommended protocol.
I called an online pet meds business to renew my elderly pets' medications. my vet declined the med renewals when they called to confirm, a med for my 14 year old who can't walk without anti-inflammatory carprofen and fluoxetine anti-depressant for my crazy 9 year old dog who walks in circles for hours without this medication. he told me i must come in and have them examined before he will renew them even though i explained we are self-quarantined. my poor pets will do without their meds.
some people aren't taking this chinese virus risk seriously and it makes me very sad.

Its good that you recognize you're at risk. Do yourself a favor and dont spend the time spent at home watching scary news that will only increase your anxiety levels.

In pasadena, LA county, a healthy 34 year old man started coughing, next day, he coughed up blood, he went to the emergency room and died 2 days later. Tested positive, covid-19 He traveled from Florida to LA.
Still think this only happens to older people?
This is a very serious illness.
It's not about only. It's about probabilities. It's probably also the non-healthy person with asthma and recurrent bronchitis, unless another 34-year-old also died in Pasadena in the last few days which there wasn't so he wasn't healthy.
The mortality rate for my age group is around .2%. I'm fine with that level of personal risk. The problem is I'm also the primary caregiver for my grandmother whose more in the 15-20% mortality category. Given the amount of necessary contact, it's pretty much a guarantee if I get it that she would as well. So there's two options. Self-isolate or tell grandma she's on her own for the next two months... which means we'd have to bring in someone else as she can't manage on her own. She doesn't need 24/7 care or anything but she does need help. Most people probably fall into similar situations. They may not be at risk levels where it would make sense to shut down the economy themselves but they have regular contact with people who are at much higher risk levels. E.g., my sister works in an assisted living facility. They're miserable there as they're not allowing anyone to visit. On the other hand look at facility in Kirkland where there's at least 30 deaths. I normally see my sister once a week. If I'm out in the world because personally I'm not at that much risk, catch it, she catches it from me, maybe another 30 people die.

Check into vet which does home visits, if one if your area. They might pull up in a van and do the exams in the van. Wear a mask if you are concerned about getting too close to the vet or vet tech. If you don't have a mask, google for making homemade masks for coronavirus. If CDC is suggesting healthcare workers wear bandana masks, maybe CDC has recommendations for how to make the bandana mask.
The 34 year old from Pasadena that died of Covid-19. Flew to Orlando in early March for work conference. Went to Disney World and Universal Studios. Began coughing, then coughing blood, while still in Florida. 2 days later flew from Orlando to LAX and then immediately went to emergency room from LAX. Wonder how many people at the airports, or people on that flight, caught the virus from him.

Young people don’t need to worry as much about serious complications. Older people are at higher risk of serious complications, hence it makes sense for them to take this even more seriously and take measures to protect themselves rather then just relying on young people to bear the brunt in terms of job losses, etc to keep them safe.
How many times does it have to be repeated that a healthy appearing younger person can be an asymptomatic carrier and infect an at risk person.
Why are at risk people exposing themselves?
