sheesh, enforce that order: People over 65, stay home! Enforce it.
Neither do the young. A medical center had to shut down after the adult child of a patient there tested positive and exposed 70 medical workers. The place is now shut down and all 70 in quarantine.

The scare tactics are backfiring at this point.

This is from the COVID-19 website for Colorado, but here is what it currently shows regarding age group of confirmed cases:

Under 10: 1.09%
10-19: 3.83%
20-29: 10.93%
30-39: 21.31%
40-49: 19.1%
50-59: 18.03%
60-69: 12.57%
70-79: 8.20%
80-89: 3.28%
Unknown: 1.64%

https://covid19.colorado.gov/data

Now, out of three deaths to date, two were in their 80's and one was in his 60's, so this seems to give credibility to the idea that everyone in every age group is just as likely to get it as anyone else (except for possibly VERY young children), BUT, as it has been said from the start, seniors are much more likely to die from it -- and I think the reasons for this are obvious!

So, sure, if you younger people want to continue to live your lives however you want (and even though I'm a senior, I don't blame you for that), you should do so with the realization that your choice to do that might result in someone dying.

I just wonder how many of those now between the ages of about 20 and 40 would be okay with that.

Everyone is at risk of catching it. It tends to be more mild in younger people. Some people don’t even have symptoms. Risk of serious complications goes up for those over the age of 60 and gets higher with age. People with underlying health issues face additional risk.

This thread is about older people who are at risk, not taking precautions to protect themselves.

The parent was a patient in the medical center.
The adult child was a visitor.

reading is fundamental.

Not any more. Close to 40% of the patients in ICU are 20-40 years old.

Belgium, Italy, France, Africa and the US are all reporting this as of a few days ago.

Not exactly

https://www.usnews.com/news/health-n...dults-under-55

Quote:
For example, among hospitalized cases, 38% were aged between 20 and 54, the report found. And among those most critical cases -- those requiring admission to an ICU -- 12% were for patients ages 20 to 44, and 36% were for patients between 45 and 64, the CDC team said.
Less than 1% of hospitalized patients were under the age of 19, the report found, and there were no deaths in that age group. [/quote]

I have no idea what point you are trying to make.

I said nothing about medical center.

The bottom line: California ordered seniors to stay home, if there is no enforcement, this order is pretty much useless.

and if seniors won't obey the "order", how can we expect the teenagers to obey this order? ENFORCE the ORDER, this is the point, I am not arguing with you about which group is more responsible. sheesh
