Trump is still lying up a storm.

Lately, he's been rambling on about how great it wold be to have churches packed on Easter.

This is a terrible idea. Just terrible.

Your missing some nuance in what the study said and, of course, left out the other part... where they rated Trump’s claim “false”.
I knew some would love the Politifact link. I didn't come close to pasting the entirety of it.

I intentionally quoted the part about decisions made regarding preparedness. I certainly didn't mean to infer that NY looked at two estimates - a $400MM one for ventilators and a $900MM for DeBlasio's wife's pet project and chose the 2nd. Although given the timeline, they came close.

But it IS a statement about priorities, and what might we do to prepare better going forward.

Now, here IS a "quid pro quo" ... for the ~$5B proposed saving on SNAP by expecting single healthy childless people to work, we could stockpile 200,000 ventilators.

Life - and thus government - is about making choices. Hopefully rational ones.

Not so fast. As an atheist I kind of like that idea. Plus they seem to be saying god will protect them. Lets see how that turns out.

it is what "their" source of news is telling them, over and over and over.

Just the exact same as any right-winger who only watches Hannity, Ingraham closing in, and some of the redstate.com-type websites

The study addressed the needs required for New York to deal with the 1918 Spanish Influenza in 2015 and estimated what the ventilator need would be. I think it's as foolish to fault Cuomo for failing to buy enough ventilators to prepare for the Spanish Flu as it is to blame Trump for the Federal Government's failure to buy enough ventilators to prepare for the Spanish Flu running rampant across America.

It was a hollow deflection by Trump so he can blame someone (anyone other than him) for the coronavirus fallout. If you don't think he is going to go on the campaign trail and disingenuously tell everyone that Andrew Cuomo destroyed his big beautiful economy because didn't buy ventilators in 2015, then you are kidding yourself.

He was right to cause a run on a drug that many people depend on every day on the basis of some hopeful thinking? Creating shortages for those people who really need the drug right now while people hoard it is not stupid?

Yeah, sure, okay.

My guess is the Pill mills found a new customer base, beyond selling the pain relievers to get high. However how is someone is so fearful as to go get a prophylactic hopeful but unproven drug but not so fearful as to break isolation to get the prescription?

if the forum wasn't filled with inane topics started by attention whores on both sides of the aisle, and if we could auto-eliminate every post on this thread that contained the word "hoax", then as active as you've been, you would have seen and read the non-partisan link that discussed the pandemic response unit.

I know that I linked it yesterday or the day before. click my name, click view all posts, and search for it in this thread.

I feel pretty certain the task force was created by Feb 1. It was Dec 31 that China told the WHO about the virus, yes?
