I like how people throw the terms like "begun re-opening" as a substitute for not everyone can open their business back or return to their job.

The lying left.

Dead people may have something to do with it.

I think ditchoc was referring to how the Democrats pad their votes with names off of cemetery headstones. They probably walk around the cemetery, write down the names, and mail in the ballots for themselves. Since most Democrat cities are old enough to have many cemeteries, there are lots of dead people to harvest votes from.

This is precisely why Newsome (sp?) made California a vote-by-mail state, and Pritzker wants to do the same for Illinois.

Absolutely. What isn't being considered here are all the health issues caused forcing people to stay home. Alcoholism, depression, suicide, etc..

CDC doesn't care. They're wearing blinders, and all they can see is the Big Bad Flu.

This virus WILL NOT STOP until about 70% of the population is immune due to (1) herd immunity being reached or (2) People are vaccinated. Both result in immunity.

Right now, about 5% of the population has been exposed and may be considered to be immune and 100,000 have died.

If no vaccination is available and you rely on herd immunity and the current numbers continue, 1.4 million people will die in the process based on 100,000 deaths for every 5% of the population infected.

That is just in the US. About 675,000 died from the flu in the US in 1918 just for reference. In some cases, entire towns were wiped out. This virus has the potential to kill twice that number.

That is the reality Governors are facing. Some realize it, some do not.

The lying left.
Throwing labels and accusing people of lying is cheap and weak.

Begun re-opening means exactly what it sounds like, - they have begun, but not yet completed. States are re-opening in phases, and as of today all States are in some stage of re-opening, but not year fully opened.

Do you understand this, or are you going to continue calling me a liar?

Current poll results:

Politically motivated - 76
They actually care - 27

Governors are grabbing all the power they can get, for as long as they can get it.

Over-reacting is what governments do best.

Governors and mayors ask Americans to social-distance and refrain from unnecessary activities.

Americans -- who are not Japanese or South Koreans or Taiwanese -- in typical American fashion gave The One-Finger Salute and did whatever they felt like doing.

Government in typical government fashion over-reacted by shutting down everything.

There was a middle ground.

It's unfortunate no one saw it.

The middle ground is a flexible response.

You order all businesses at 50% capacity, personal services like salon, gyms etc, everyone masks up, and for non-personal services like retail and restaurant, staff/employees mask up and the owners/managers can require patrons to wear masks. Everyone sanitizes daily. No exceptions. If necessary, call up National Guard units to enforce.

You see a restaurant violating the order, you get the manager and tell them they're now at 25% capacity and if you have to come back, they'll be closed as a public health risk.

That's really all that needed to be done.

Business owners will police themselves and Americans will pay attention to what store owners/managers say, but not what government says.

For large venues, you'll have to shut them down. Nothing you can do about that, but there'd have been less economic damage.
Great post.
