But your real argument was that cities with populations over a million people are losing population, and that is a complete nonsense.

If cities are losing population, then where are all the people going? Leaving the country? Moving to the mountains?

Think before you post. People need jobs, and the jobs are in the cities, so people live in cities even if they preferred the mountains.

How are the Republican mayors preventing the poor from having babies by unwed mothers in rural Mississippi? Do they roam around looking for people having sex, and then pull them apart?

Just curious.
So you've seen a turn around ?

What has changed in NYC ? Why the rise in crime ? I'll give it to NYC, they definitely had a handle on their violent crime.

Poorest Areas in US.....are rural red States

Oklahoma
Alabama
Kentucky
Arkansas
West Virginia
Louisiana
New Mexico
Mississippi
No deflection. It is abundantly clear there are vastly more poor living in highly populated areas than sparsely populated areas. The highest poverty rate is in the inner-cities, not rural areas, meaning that the poor disproportionately live in Dem-governed cities.

How did you come up with that?

Big cities have big city issues. I gave the example of Miami, which is republican controlled, and they have the same issues as any other city in US.
I don't think anyone here is saying that GOP controlled cities are devoid of issues. We are asking why aren't there issues in Democratically controlled ones ? We are told how progressive policies are the way to go, and how progressive cities across the world are utopias , so why aren't our progressive cities here the same ?

I think the big picture is it has nothing to do with what party is running the show, our issues are much deeper that a D or and R. Although it seems like a lot of progressive policies do end up hurting things in the long run.

Classic liberal arrogance on full display in this thread, and you wonder why you are met with hostility when you inevitably flee your utopia for the south.

So basically, you have a shrinking or non-existent middle class in SF. You have the very wealthy or the very poor. The wealthy love those feelings of success and exclusivity while pretending to be contrite and caring. All the while the poor are content with the scraps from their table. That's the moron leftist utopia. And it won't last. Wherever the deplorables are growing food, building things, creating a civilized society, leftist morons will eventually arrive and bring their destruction with them. They are locusts.

He must be kinda stupid, I guess.
As is true of every Dem-governed city in chaos (violence, riots, looting, vandalism), it works much better for the rich than it does for the middle class and poor... to a point. Even the rich are also starting to bail on those cities now, though.

Must be. He moved from one liberal hell-hole in NY to another in Florida.

So the big response to the question of why most, if not all big liberal run cities are doing so badly is to change the subject to Republican run cities. How about sticking to the original post. If you want to talk about Repub led cities, start a new post.

If your boss asks you why your job performance is so bad, you don't point to your coworkers and say "but what about them?"

No, they are not. You offer an opinion piece from 'The Atlantic' to counter facts.

Of course people are leaving, but unlike you, most people understand that people are also coming in, and the balance between the people coming in and going out reveals the net gain/loss. NYC is gaining, which is not surprising given the fact that they have lot of jobs. The mountains and forests are attractive but we must work to pay our bills. God said it would be so: "By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground" - Genesis 3:9

Its rich the pseudo-conservatives tell people to find jobs wherever they may be, and when people follow the jobs to big cities, they mock them for going to "liberal hell-holes". Maybe you need to get over the fact that your party simply cannot win the mayoral seats in any meaningful American city.

If you are in the 20% of Americans who do not live in a metro area, then fine, no one cares. You don't live in a metro area, but you can't stop whining about them. Go figure.

These "liberal hell-holes" and the 80% of Americans who live and work in them makes the US the greatest country on earth, so why are you so hell-bent on tearing it down?

As our President, he has to live in D.C. That's where the White House is located. Yes, D.C. is a failed, Democrat hell hole. If you are talking about NYC, that's where Trump was born and started his real estate empire. I don't think he spends much time there anymore, but that's where some of his company's business is located.
