They stop an infected person from sneezing or coughing all over you and me, or some surfaces they sneeze all over. But they do little to nothing for the healthy uninfected person. In fact because mask collect germs they can make things worse for otherwise healthy people.

If a healthy person is not wearing a mask they will breathe in more virus particles if someone infected sneezes near them. And now the healthy person is infected.

If they had worn a mask they would breathe in fewer virus particles and possible prevent severe infection.

Wear the mask properly. If it is cloth, wash it after use. Throw disposables away.

There is no way to know whether you are infected or not.

Furthermore, on the hospital's FB page, after some scrolling, there is a picture of a doctor holding a large sign that says, "All I want for Christmas is to not have to tell families their loved one is dying of COVID." One nurse who has worked there for nine years says she never seen anything this bad. Is this all fake? No, it's the opposite problem. Things are getting too overwhelmingly real!

This again? "Anyone who disagrees with me, on anything, thinks the virus is a hoax."

Masks contain the droplets which contain the virus (flu or coronavirus), not individual viral particles.

They do not stop all viral spread but they do reduce it, some masks better than others. Masks need to fit properly and be used properly.
From the article "the genome of SARS-CoV-2 is a bit more than twice the size of Influenza A (~30k and ~14k base pairs, respectfully)." Not the same as the physical size, which is 125 nm

Agreed. You cannot self diagnose. But masks will not prevent you from catching the virus. If infected people are in the same room with you, they will eventually saturate the air with the virus and your cloth or paper mask you bought on Amazon will not filter out the virus.

The coronavirus is on average larger.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Influe...tous%20virions.

"The [influenza A] virus particle (also called the virion) is 80–120 nanometers in diameter such that the smallest virions adopt an elliptical shape. The length of each particle varies considerably, owing to the fact that influenza is pleomorphic, and can be in excess of many tens of micrometers, producing filamentous virions."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Severe..._coronavirus_2

"Each SARS-CoV-2 virion is 50–200 nanometres in diameter"

Not all masks are created equal. Some work better than others. Part of social distancing is to spend as little time as possible in the presence of non-family persons. In addition, droplets, even aerosols, do not remain suspended in the air. Aerosols can go further and stay in the air longer, depending on air circulation, but even they eventually fall to the floor.

No mask will stop every viral particle, even an N95, but they do help.

Did you read the entire article to the very end?

"The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment counts COVID-19 deaths in two different ways from two separate sources of data — deaths caused by COVID-19 and deaths among people who died with COVID-19.

Most recent numbers report that 3,086 people in Colorado have died because of COVID compared to 3,969 deaths with COVID.

Deaths listed as caused by COVID-19 come from death certificates. These causes of death are determined directly by health care providers and coroners.

Alternatively, deaths for people who died with but not necessarily because of COVID-19 come from epidemiological data. Thus, anyone who died within 30 days after testing positive for COVID is included in the count regardless of official cause of death."

They are maintaining two separate sets of data.
