Well, you have to figure with high profile Democrats like John Brennan and a good number of Obama's friends being Communists, its no wonder they are in somewhat of agreement with Nueling

None of your examples apply to free speech. Free speech means free from government regulation. The only exceptions are for obvious hate speech. Otherwise free countries have little or no regulation of free speech.

Private companies like you listed have no obligation of free speech. You're free to patronize them or not as you see fit. China on the other hand does wholesale censoring of information and tracks what their people say. There is both filtering information and no free speech as mandated and enforced by their government.

Anyway, thanks for answering my question of what you thought of China censoring their internet.

It doesn't matter who gets elected in November, Biden is a criminal just like Trump.

Take the Uighur accusations for instance. According to Reuters, that started the media campaign, China holds a million Uighurs in concentration camps, quoting the UN. From there the claim was repeated ad nausea by the NYT, WP, etc., like parrots.

However, the UN has not claimed anything like that. In fact, only a single woman named Gay McDougall, who is anything but an expert on China, made such claims in her role as the only American on the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, which is separate from the UN, though. She has not provided any evidence to back up her claim, just mentioned "credible reports".

Those came for instance from the Network of Chinese Human Rights Defenders (CHRD), an anti-Beijing organization based in Washington, that receives hundreds of thousands of dollars from Washington's regime-change body National Endowment for Democracy (NED), basically an imperialist terrorist organization acting under the pretext of spreading democracy. The CHRD is registered at the same address as Human Rights Watch, an organization known for its proximity to US politicians.

Leading members of CHRD are Su Xiaokang, Teng Biao, Perry Link, Renee Xia (the founder). They are hard-core anti-Chinese radicals/dissidents that support people like Liu Xiaobo, another radical that makes racist comments against the Chinese, supports colonialism and wars.

Another source of those Uighur accusations are stories by Radio Free Asia, an American propaganda station.

Yet another source are the World Uighur Congress and the International Uyghur Human Rights and Democracy Foundation, both organizations are funded by the aforementioned National Endowment for Democracy, that tries to topple governments Washington doesn't like.

Finally, there is a weird German guy called Adrian Zenz, who emigrated to the US. He is a radical evangelist Christian who goes around claiming god chose him to fight China. Zenz came up with the absurd figure of a million incarcerated Uighurs and his fabrications have been the foundation for anti-Chinese US laws.

The same happens when one investigates the corona accusations, the HK accusations, the Huawei accusations, etc. People should not just read headlines and swallow what they see on TV, but investigate.

I am convinced that, while not perfect of course, China is actually a much more decent, benevolent country than the US. And most of what China does is merely to defend itself.
So you are saying the corno virus DID NOT COME FROM CHINA...RIGHT??????????????

Frankly, I don't see any difference who keeps me from saying what I want to say or reading what I want to read. The result is the same.
Also, in some cases it might make sense to keep certain information and opinions off the internet.
Like in a library decades ago, often they just wouldn't have the books you would have liked to read.

The US also tracks what people say and write. Everything we write here is processed by AI algorithms and stored on some government servers. Britain and Germany do the same thing.

Frankly, I can't say, maybe it did, maybe it didn't.
There will be an independent investigation which is already being prepared.

Also, the mere origin does not mean much, the jump from bats to humans could have happened in a number of mostly African and Asian countries, not just China. The problem are the wild politically motivated accusations that followed.

I tend to side with the OP. There's so much anti-China sentiment, and they do have a heavy hand at times, but it's no where near the level of Soviet Union. I feel that a lot of it is more propoganda trying to take shots at a threat the US media has made them to be

I don't like their censorship, but it's undeniable they have been number 1 at raising living standards across the world. All you have to do is watch street view videos on youtube, it's amazing how advanced, clean, and well maintained the entire country is, even outside of the big name cities.

Australia rejects China's illegal territorial claims. Xi Jinping and the CCP have no friend left except the ones they can buy off through debt trap policy.

do we really have free speech though? when you can be socially and publicly shamed, or be fired from your job and pretty much have your entire life ruined for merely expressing an unpopular opinion?
when you and your family receive death threats or get physically attacked, where you can't go out in public anymore, is it really any better than the govt giving you a stern talking to?

as for china's censoring of the internet, I believe it was in response to social media networks being used for communication from extremist terrorist groups. china claims they locked it down since it's beyond their authority to monitor and control those platforms.
my personal opinion is that they did it to foster the growth of their own platforms, which has been proven to be very successful.
regardless of their motivation, it is their prerogative and if their citizens are ok with it, then who are we to judge?

a question you have to ask is why all the attention on china? north korea, certain middle eastern/muslim countries, etc. are worse in human rights abuses, yet all the media attention is on china.
it's because none of them are economic, military or technological equals to the US and is not in danger of threatening US hegemony.
