No, we know that it is consistent with being wild. if I planted a wild plum tree, then anyone seeing it grow would assume it was wild. I may even have bred it some and it would be impossible to prove that it was. The only way to prove it would be if it only could have only been done in a lab.
I did not think it would have been an easy thing to prove so I never consider it promising to find a smoking gun. The other problem is that most of the public must rely on authoritative sources either way. That's not quite as reliable as proving a plane can fly because everyone can understand that.
Kind of a technicality, but the field of science does not couch things that kind of language, It was not proven to not be tampered with in a lab. Its just that the peers in the field cannot distinguish it from a wild type.
So the idea that China has been proven not to have manipulated it is false.

It has been proven. Many scientists have studied the genomic code and have come to the same conclusions. I already posted two pieces of evidence proving it was not altered.
