Why do have an issue with that?
Because as far back as 2016, when Trump started this lie, the IRS had to issue a statement saying "nothing prevents individuals from sharing their own tax information.". So, no one was blocking Trump from releasing them but Trump himself.

An audit definitely can drag out,” said Francine Lipman, a law professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and a certified public accountant. “But not 10 years. That doesn’t pass the smell test

Additionally, and using simple logic, if someone's taxes WERE under audit for ten YEARS, there's something there requiring ten YEARS of investigation. Clean, honest tax-reporting would not require that level of scrutiny.

Well they weren't billionaires either. The average person wouldn't know how to properly interperet Trump's tax returns even if he did release them...and there is no law that says he has to. Don't like it then change the laws but they must also apply to every member of Congress which is why they'll never do it.

The public won't see them unless there is an indictment by a grand jury.

Shame. Being found out...for many things.
And it has nothing to do with Dem or Rep....he was a Dem when he did many things.

It reflects on what he learned from Fred, his father.
(Personally, I think it will show he is not as wealthy as he wants everyone to think ...in fact, as
his family says - he messes up many things, always has, according to esp. his sister the ret. Judge.)

Trump is the only one who has been fighting tooth and nail to keep his returns sealed. Of course people are gonna think he has something incriminating to hide.

I'd suspect the right would do the same thing if Biden or any Dem for that matter refused to show his or her returns there would prob be a sticky on here about it.
Does Biden’s tax return include the bribery Hunter has been holding for him?

Why don't you ask the IRS? Since Biden, unlike Trump, has released his tax returns, if there is anything illegal it will be made public. So far--nothing. Now let's have a look-see at Trump's returns.

Donald Trump’s Tax Records Finally Turned Over For New York Investigation

Nearly a decade’s worth of former President Donald Trump’s tax documents have been turned over to a New York prosecutor’s office, multiple outlets reported Thursday.

Terabytes of data ― millions of pages ― were handed over Monday after the Supreme Court cleared the way for Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. to receive them as part of a wide-ranging investigation into Trump’s family businesses that could lead to criminal charges.

The records span from January 2011 to August 2019, according to CNN.

Either someone has lied to you, you haven’t actually researched the topic, or you consider 50 years to be the extent of history. The practice of releasing tax returns started in 1974, so not “every” Republican and Democrat before Trump released theirs. It is a completely voluntary action, as there is no law which requires it. Whether or not there should be a law requiring it is a debate that we can have, but under current laws you have zero right to see the tax returns of the POTUS. The fact that Dems are still pushing to see his taxes says a lot more about their desire to find absolutely anything that they can turn into an absurd attack on Trump than it does about anything else.

Again, I’m far more concerned with the finances of career politicians who have become wealthy in office while writing laws which affect their wealth than I am with the finances of the guy whose only contribution to legislation is a signature. The entire tax return argument, especially as it relates to Trump, is an attempt by one set of rich people to prove how evil another rich person is. It’s a political shell game.

I don’t care if Trump promised to release them, either. It isn’t the first nor the last time that a President has broken a campaign promise, and on the greater scale it’s a broken promise that has little bearing on his policies while he was in office. As he is now a private citizen after an election which no matter what the left claims was filled with inconsistency and legally questionable actions, you definitely don’t have any right to his tax returns.

Now, if you want to push for a law which requires any Federal elected official to release their financial records I’ll put my signature right next to yours on the petition. But pretending that the President’s financials should be public record due to “integrity” while giving a pass to every other person involved in the lawmaking process? I’m not getting on that train.
