No one running for that level of public office spends that much effort hiding his personal financial information if he doesn't have something major to hide.
We all know Trump is hiding very shady, most likely illegal activity, and that he more than likely used the presidential office to make a decent amount of money for his family over the last four years.
Kinda like Obama and his college transcipts? What on earth would he need to spend so much time, effort, and A LOT of money to keep those sealed?
Why has Donald Trump fought so hard to keep his tax returns secret?
Don't know don't care. If there were some huge incriminating thing in Trump's tax records, the IRS would have had a little chat with him ages ago and if it merited prison time, that would have already happened. I expect that we're going to see a whole lot of nothing from the current litigation, then some brave Democrat activist footsoldier with access to his tax records will fall on his sword, leak the records to the press and go to prison for it. Probably the entire reason for the whole charade to begin with.

Very much this. People need to look beyond just Donald Trump and apply this to any citizen. Precedent is more important than one man.

I have no interest in how little federal taxes he paid. The tax code favors very wealthy and poor. Real estate development is dirty business and the tax code has intentional loopholes favoring real estate developers. Those who develop and sell $25 million condos need help?

So, all you folks contending that you keep your returns secret, why shouldn't he:
1. They are not being released to the public
2. If YOU were under criminal investigation you better darned well believe the prosecutor would get your returns too
3. The IRS actually is coming after him, for something like $100M for a refund he may not have been entitled to (including interest).
