The places spiking are largely due to it (if it exists) not going through their population the way it did here. The U.S. is easily at herd immunity, maybe the vaccine "helped" but based on our data trends, we'd be in the same place without it. Don't forget, the way we're testing and counting cases, if you have a slight amount of viral material that gets picked up by the ultra-sensitive tests, you're a "case" despite never classifying any disease like this, this way at any point in history! If they did the same testing, at the same levels for all the other viruses and even harmful bacteria, and just started showing those on a big scary dashboard, we'd be in the same place with headlines of "pandemic of norovirus" or "pandemic of strep throat tears through community" I guarantee it.
Sure never heard of places like Italy having it before...
A good gauge I’ve seen was from blood donations showing roughly 1 in 5 here have antibodies so around 20% have had it. So if you extrapolate out around 64 million. Our number of cases is at 32 million. So figure half that had it did not have symptoms or did not seek treatment or testing. So our numbers are drastically underreported if anything.
In any case, hardly herd immunity(claiming we are at herd immunity refutes your own over reported theory with simple math) and we’re not exactly doing well right now. Our total reported cases are at 32 million, population is 328 million. 10% is not herd immunity or overreported. We’re number 3 in new cases behind India and Brazil. If it was political for the Democrats, explain the worldwide phenomenon.

Funny you say that as the people that wear masks all the time in hospitals for decades daily are doctors and nurses. Have not heard any docs or nurses dying or leaving careers from excess CO2 from mask.
Operating rooms must be DEADLY, for the staff.
I don't recall an outbreak of ICU nurses or OR nurses wearing mask for 12 hours straight having health issues or CO2 excess, not even the fat ones.
All you have to do is use common sense to understand that wearing a mask is not good for you aside from possibly protecting you from the virus.
Does that benefit outweigh the damage you are doing to yourself by rebreathing cloth over and over again?
I guess if you are 79 years old, obese, and have diabetes and respiratory problems, then the benefit of wearing a mask outweighs the damage.
But if you are a healthy younger person, I’m skeptical that a mask is in your best interest.
Which leads to my final point, which is it’s not my problem if your body can’t fight off the virus. Nor is it yours if my body can’t either. So wearing the mask to protect others is a bunch of BS.
