Yep, part of the grand compromise of the various flavors of society. But that would be an actual lock down and it would have worked.
What we did? You can't get a hair cut but you can crowd up in a store including with those not wearing masks and actively shouting at and spitting on people? Not a recipe for success nor a lock down.
You could have done anything you wanted.
Most sane people are obviously not going to sacrifice a lot of freedom for a virus with a 99.5% survival rate.
Actually no, it means the opposite....The longer incubation period of covid means a longer time that they can infect others, not to mention that many with covid are asymptomatic.
So now you know more than the CDC?
This is just science, folks. I'm sorry it goes against your doom and gloom narrative.
Uhhhhh then why were there 38 MILLION cases of the flu in 2019 and NOWHERE EVEN CLOSE to that in 2020 and 2021 with covid?
Are you sure you understand the statistics?
I'm wondering how many people don't comprehend the statistics. Look at it this way. If there were 38 million cases of the flu in 2019 and almost none in 2020/21 when people were following covid precautions then that indicates that masks and frequent handwashing and keeping distance from others is instrumental in preventing the spread of the flu. Right? So if it was instrumental in preventing another 38 million cases of flu in 2020/21 then it follows it has also been instrumental in preventing 8 Billion cases of covid in 2020.
So everyone needs to keep on following the covid precautions and wear your masks until we've got this thing beaten.

HAHAHAHA!
So let me get this straight....masks and "precautions" work GREAT on the flu, but for covid, which is LESS contagious than the flu, they work terrible because we have tons of cases and we were a wreck all the way up until the election right?
I haven’t had a cold, flu, cough, covid in over a year since wearing a mask, so they must work. Hence why doctors have been wearing them for decades. However, at some point we are going to have to accept covid is here to stay and do we really need to wear a mask going forward. The odds of getting in a fatal car accident is probably higher than catching and dying from covid. I think once this summer is over and everyone who wanted to get vaccinated was able to, masks should be optional, but they do work. I normally would catch a cold or flu a few times a year and now 0 in 2020 and 0 in 2021. I still go out, but I always wear a mask. Second dose at the end of this month.

1. Doctors don't wear masks to stop from catching viruses. They wear them in medical situations to stop blood, saliva, vomit, etc. from contacting their mouths.
2. You are free to wear a mask any time you want. Most sane people will not be wearing one. The virus was 99.5% survival BEFORE the vaccines came out....now it's probably 10x higher than that! If you want to walk around like an expressionless zombie because you think a piece of cloth can stop viruses, feel free, but society should shun that heavily.
3. Why did you get vaccinated if you feel you still need to wear a placebo like a mask? If you're that worried, you should be home with your door locked. A vaccinated person has infinitely more chance of getting killed in car accident or by lightning than dying from corona virus. You must be absolutely terrified when you leave your home if you can't understand these basic macro statistics.
When did Americans become such sissies in general that need extreme safetyism? Did the trophy for all/safe space education system teach them that? Yikes!

We recently spoke to several Yale Medicine doctors about the medical reasons why they wear masks. They are protective on several levels, explains Manisha Juthani, MD, an infectious disease specialist. “It is really important for me to wear a mask when I'm taking care of patients who have a respiratory virus that I could be at risk of getting and then potentially giving to somebody else.” In fact, the only way she can treat patients with different infectious diseases is by wearing a medical-grade mask so she does not spread any disease or get sick herself.
