The bigger picture here is it this reveals that these people are not here to immigrate and become Americans they are here to bring their culture here and invade.
La reconquista.

Why are we ignoring this?

Well if he and his family are here illegally of course he and they don't think the rules apply to them. That's pretty much a given, isn't it?

What makes you think he and his family are here illegally?

Here's another article about this incident. If you ignore all the fluff and attempted heart string pulling it's seems pretty obvious that his parents came here illegally long ago and that the graduate was an anchor baby as the mother claims he was born here.

Forget the Mexican flag for a second. If the school gave the dress code to all students and this kid is the only one that basically gave the finger to the teachers and the students who have to follow the rule, it shows the problem is the kid and and his parents for letting him do this.

The parents supported this kid’s action and that is a bigger problem. Any parent would ask their child why are they bringing a Mexican flag to the ceremony which is agains the code and tell him he is not bringing that to the ceremony and leave it home or in the car.

In the future, if they want to enforce a dress code, they probably need to make it clear what the punishment will be - you won't receive a diploma. And if you're not dressed appropriately, you won't be able to cross the stage.

I personally think what they should do, in this case, is withhold his diploma until he completes community service hours for the school district. Give an inch, graduates will take a mile and each one thinks they are more and more clever.
He finished the academic requirements. Pull him from walking, and give him his diploma later.

Not get a diploma as in "you didn't finish high school, and have to come back" or "you won't get your name called at the ceremony"? If the kid finished all of the requirements, he deserves the diploma. Period.

Kids wearing or doing the wrong things at graduation isn't new. I'd heard about kids doing/wearing stupid things at graduation before. I did a duckduckgo search and there were quite a few hits. Seems the usual punishment for disobeying the rules is either paying a fine or doing a few hours of community service, with the diploma being given after the fine is paid or the community service is finished.

This kid is not special. He broke the rules and now he should suck it up and deal with it like an adult, then he'll get his diploma.
