There have been reports of Taliban members using batons to get people to line up in orderly queues on Sunday outside of Kabul airport. Aircraft has also fired flares upon takeoff in order to try to confuse possible heat-seeking missiles amid a new, perceived threat from the Islamic State group affiliate in Afghanistan. In the meantime, Taliban co-founder Mullah Baradar and Siraj Haqqani, head of the Haqqani Network arrived in Kabul on Saturday to form a new government. The Haqqani network is the primary liason between the Taliban and the al Quada network.
The Pentagon has told six airlines to lend 18 planes to evacuate people.
Since our own military planes are using flares and diving combat landings for safety, how wise is this? Not to mention that since none of our people and the Afghani's who assisted us can get to the airport, this will most likely mean 18 planes filled with random Afghani's brought here.

The Afghan Army wad trained to do what our Army does. Hold and call in Air support.... As long as we had their backs they were willing to go at it. We split overnight and didn't offer them any support... FTS I'd bug out too.....

Your understanding of history is not too deep. The Korean War ended in 1953. South Korea was devastated after the war had been fought several times through the country. By 1964, South Korea was strong enough that the sent their military to assist in the war in South Vietnam. From September 1964 to March 1973, South Korea sent some 350,000 troops to South Vietnam. The South Korean Army, Marine Corps, Navy, and Air Force all participated as an ally of the United States. So yes, the South Koreans were still dependent on the US for military support, the same way North Korea was dependent on the Soviet Union and China for economic and military aid. In 20 years, the Afghans never developed a fighting force.

Very risky, since civilian commercial aircraft, and their pilots are not equipped and trained for anti suface to air missile countermeasures.
