It can pay for programs to help people like that. That's the point here.
We spend too much money on 'programs' that don't actually help.
You don't get people out of poverty by subsidizing people's poverty. Not to mention, a given segment of the population will always be in poverty no matter how much money is thrown into welfare, which is an outcome of capitalism.
what is the rich? because the ultra wealthy 1% will never notice anything the government imposes on them because they have teams of smart people to shield their money and they have influence with powerful people. As the rest of us just get pushed to be poorer.
The super rich are not impacted because they have ways to offset their tax burden. The poor are not impacted because they pay no federal taxes and most get a check from the taxpayers. The only group that gets screwed are the middle class wage earners.
We have a plethora of "programs" to help people get educated with skills TODAY.
FREE for them because of their low income.
They are not taking advantage of them. So what..you want more programs that people are ignoring ?
We don't though. We don't even guarantee health care for our citizens, less other basic needs. People should not struggle to have a place to live, food to eat, get healthcare, or get educated.
Warren Buffet and Nick Hanauer are two billionaires who have said to raise their taxes....
Of course they did AFTER they amassed billions. They were not saying that back when they were starting out and had nothing. A tax increase will not hurt them now.
Why would Nany Pelosi and Barack Obama ever support more taxes on themselves?
These folks are worth more than $100 million each.
