A friend of mine bought a Mercedes diesel car some years ago. They get better mileage than a gasoline car, but not that much better.
I ordered home heating oil yesterday, Basically dyed diesel fuel. It was $5.29/gallon.
This is the highest I've ever found it, Its going to be a long cold winter for those on a fixed budget, and the working poor.

Yikes! How many gallons do you use per winter?

The exact wrong 'leadership' is in charge at the wrong time in history.
Nicely done, Trump haters. You morons.

This 'president' is draining the strategic petroleum reserve for POLITICAL REASONS. Let that one sink in. It's band aid, a short term fix to help the democrats in the election. It's impeachable in my book.

5.29 is the cheapest I saw today also. We have the heat on now, its about 6-7 gallons a day used.

So about $1,000/month.

A lot of people won't be able to afford that. I've already been seeing a growing number of tweets from life-long Democrats vowing to vote Republican in November, largely based on remembering Biden's promise to "end fossil fuels" and now finding out the hard way how that impacts them and their families.

We can afford it, but I don't know how other people can afford it. 2021 avg year prices were $1.91, 2020 the avg. price $1.20. Today is the highest I've ever seen oil prices at $5.29 (lowest price for sale), and its likely to only keep going up. Luckily filled up a month ago at 3.76 but have only 2 more weeks supply.

Is this a refining capacity problem? We have more oil under the ground here than we know what to do with.

According to this analyst, there are 3 reasons:

1) Weak demand over the past two years due to the covid shutdowns, therefore refineries scaled back on production.
2) High natural gas prices. Natural gas is used in the diesel fuel refining process.
3) Sanctions on Russia.

My work pickup is diesel, it got up to $5.60 here, but has been at $5 pretty much all summer. Then it spiked to $5.30 last week or so and going up. I have a lawn service, with this, my fall clean up prices just went up. If you want to fight inflation, somehow subsidize diesel, the entire country runs on it.
