Why Doesn't Liberal Talk Radio succeed?
I was wondering yesterday why liberal talk radio is never nearly as successful as conservative talk radio. Do liberals prefer other media to the talk radio format, or does NPR suffice for most? I'd love to hear any answers from liberals or conservatives.

I think conservative talk radio tends toward sensationalism. How many read the Enquirer vs. Newsweek? Probably for the same reasons.

Most conservative talk shows have "passion". Liberal shows (I have heard only one - was boring - Air America?) have none. Both types rant but conservatives are better linking rants to baser instincts and feelings. This is why Oprah is more successful than Donahue (who?).

Conservative talk radio has a large following; people incapable of thinking for themselves, believe the national enquirer, love looking at gory auto wrecks, and pay extra to see the freak show tent at the circus. They are the sort of dullards that made P. T. Barnum rich.
