Remember when Frank Zappa ran for president in '92? Sadly he died a year later, but I like to think that some day we as a species will evolve enough to make someone like Kinky or Frank "viable", no matter what their party affiliation.

Well, if jesse ventura can... I mean, wrestling actor???

He does have an odd name, but if he means to fill Ann Richards shoes, that's a mighty tall ambition. I hope he does. She was one helluva lady as far as I could tell.

She did a fabulous job as our governor. That wasn't meant to be sarcastic BTW....I do support some Democrats.

Dem and Rep mean nothing anymore IMO. I just admired Ann's sensible shoes, even if I never lived in texas. Driving through twice doesn't count, and I didn't slow down enough to be adopted. LOL

You sound a little...intolerant of others.
Perhaps people like you and people from the south should not mix.

One more thing; Gov. Rick Perry just ensured that he can now never, ever be elected President of the United States.

Good point but after George W. Bush, was that ever in doubt?

Go back and read what you initially wrote (here's a refresher: "Only a place like texas would think so highly of itself... so I say... have at it.... bye bye") if you want to throw 4-letter words at me.... HYPOCRITE.
18 percent is a lot of people if you ask me... Only a state like texas would have 18 percent wanting to seceed....I would say the same thing about california... this notion that you're so big and influential enough to actually be discussing it...

Idaho is probably one of the most libertarian states in the union, It's redness on a map has little to do with why southern states are red... It's more about fiscally, and socially, smaller government, live and let live... SO.. after illustrating the independent nature of most idahoans, I would challenge you to find a poll where 18 percent of the people here would favor seperating from the union... That is what I'm trying to point out.. It's not about ideology.. it's about power....get off your soap box..

OTOH, more than that nationwide believe in the "right" to secede.

Politically, liberal thinkers were much more likely to favor the right to secession for states and regions, as 32% of mainline liberals agreed with the concept. Among the very liberal the support was only slightly less enthusiastic - 28% said they favored such a right. Meanwhile, just 17% of mainline conservatives thought it should exist as an option for states or regions of the nation.

Asked whether they would support a secessionist movement in their own state, 18% said they would, with those in the South most likely to say they would back such an effort. In the South, 24% said they would support such an effort, while 15% in the West and Midwest said the same. Here, too, younger adults were more likely than older adults to be supportive - 35% of those under age 30 would support secession in their state, compared to just 17% of those over age 65.
