Oh good lord! Ignorance is rampant here. I lived in Connecticut for 4 years, and I witnessed just as much conservative racist jive as anywhere in the south. Thanks for reinforcing ignorance, TANaples. Maybe you're having a bad experience in whatever little pocket of the south you've been living, but spare us the narrow-minded assumptions that the entire region is all the same and inferior to the northeast.

I'm a liberal and views like yours definitely don't represent mine.

I would think that EVERYONE would welcome such a discussion such as a State considering seceding from the Union - to me, it is indicative of Citizens being unhappy with what is happening in their Capital - in this case Washington. Unhappy with what their Government is doing. Unhappy with the direction that their elected Representatives are taking this nation.

AND, inasmuch as Texas is not the only state indicating their unhappiness, it seems to me that it may be time to sit down - both sides - and explore and discuss the various issues making the citizens unhappy and see if maybe, just maybe, there is common ground that can be found to settle these disputes.

IMHO, if this does not happen, we may very well see the rebellion some here have mentioned - and I for one, would not want to see this happen.

It isn't just conservatives who have supported secession. In liberal Vermont there's a group called the Second Vermont Republic who want precisely that, secession. It had quite a bit of support during Bush's presidency, I'm not sure about now, but it's hardly a Conservative versus Liberal thing, nor should it be. If the people of a state are unhappy and no longer consent to be governed by the feds, liberal or conservative, they have every right to form a new government they agree to (done through secession). Secession is only going to be violent if the feds perpetrate violence against the people.

Default Governor Says Texans May Want to Secede From Union

Rick Perry is simply pandering to the dumbest of the stupids in Texas.

Thank you very, very much for this post. All the other non-Texans just love to pick on us....you actually see that our views are valid as well and that we have just as much of a right to consideration as everyone else. You may or may not agree with our views, but you see that we are equal.

To everyone who hates Texas, you need to realize that about 8% of Americans are Texans. That's not a small percentage...it's far larger in fact than the percent who are citizens of most of your states.

My interpretation of the 10th Amendment is very different from yours apparently.

TX v. White was a political decision and there is no basis to assume the SC would rule the same now.

How much did it cost for the arm of the law to be wrongfully wielded against political opponents???

SO who are they really mad at, and why?
It's still someone else's fault, according to FOXnews suckups who are more than happy to fan the flames of misattributed blame to serve their own agenda. Freedomworks (anti social security insurance proponents) and and and...

Please note the typical talkinghead technique of asking a question, rudely cutting off the answer, and answering the question themselves the way they want their audience to remember the interview.

I refused to participate in the childish hate language of my state is holier than thou, but you did not refrain in your contempt. Please see above post.

Tea baggers and secede supporters are being deliberately manipulated. Think again about who profits wildly from strife. It will not be america, and it will not be texas. When we're in the business of taking responsibility for ourselves, our state, and our country, america will have a much brighter future. Grass roots would have to start with yourself first, not the top down directions of neo cons desperately trying to undermine our nation with power grabs of their own.

Don't go confusing these people. They've got enough problems with their Obamagination.
