As a heterosexual white male, I don't feel directly discriminated against. However, I do feel that it is more difficult for me to do certain things (such as fund my college education) than it is for a minority of equal ability.

I didn't realize that being able to relate to someone is only based on race. I personally have friends who I can relate to of other races, and I'm married to someone of another race as well. I feel I can 'relate' to her.

BTW, I'm a white male, and I feel that it generally works in my favor. I'm not one of those bitchy white guys with a good job who complains about being discriminated against.

Even better example, Rush Limbaugh complaining about people who claim to be victims, then tries to play the victim himself about being kicked out of an NFL ownership group. 'Whaaaa, I'm a fat old white guy who lives in a mansion in Palm Beach and just signed a $300 million contract. I'm such a victim! I have it sooo tough!'

Go in the Army, volunteer for the Stan, then you'll be a veteran

Ok I am not a straight white male but my hubby is. I will tell you a story about him.

About 7 years ago he was working with a telecommunications company. In his department there was one Hispanic, one black, one Indian (director) two Asian and my husband. Now my husband was the only one in the group with a Masters Degree, please keep that in mind. Well it is layoff time and my husband gets the ax. Now at first he did not think anything about it UNTIL a co-worker gets an email that he should not have, the names were close to the HR VP's. This guy was a friend of my husbands. Long story short the email says that the engineering group has now met it's quota for the companies tax breaks and government contracts as an EEOC business. Now I am not saying for sure but to us it very much sounded like if one of the others were let go the company may have not had the needed number of minorities to keep their EEOC status.

Make of it what you want but party of why you will not have a lot of posts here is because there is probably no proof and we all know that when a white male claims discrimination no one believes them and thinks they are just complainers.

As one pollster may have noticed there may be quite a few minorities in government jobs but if you look deeper, the top management positions are still dominated by white straight males.

Do straight, white males really face discrimination? If so, how? Please give examples.

I'm hoping for sincere and intelligent answers. Thanks.
As a straight white male, the ONLY discrimination I've faced in my life is from my gf's "friends" and family.. She's black and the onslaught we've had to face has been terrible. The worse part is she pretty much lost all of her friends for dating "whitie"...

Racists suck period...white, black, Latino, or whatever. You gotta try not to stoop to their level...whether they be racists of the Farrakhan or Limbaugh variety.

On account of race? No.

On account of gender? Somewhat. Not so much discrimination, but a some females were getting by with lower standards and less responsibilty for the same pay. I've also had a friend who was on the wrong end of a bogus sexual harrasment claim. Apparently the woman was offended when he told her to put her hair in a bun so it didn't get caught or shed in something.

I never said it was "only" based on race. Not sure where you read that.

I stand by my statement that people like being around others with similar lifestyles and backgrounds.

Well, one thing is that a lot of time being white is supposed to mean you have it made financially...that we have no right to complain about anything because of it.

If you don't get discriminated against because you are race, sex, or gender, it will be something else. Because you are a nerd, because you are fat, because of your income, we all get illogical confrontations from people no matter who we are.
