His plan is to kill the middle class Americans so they will be forced onto government assistance.

His decisions and lies on drilling our own oil should have told people that.

He is a job killing machine and I believe it is all well planned to hurt the working class of Americans and get them to bow down to the government for every need.

Remember what Nancy said, people are stupid and have to rely on the government to help them make decisions and survive. Its a liberal thing.

Energy is the biggest national security issue of our country. And yes, more of an issue than radical terrorists.

We need to consume less oil and diversify our energy portfolio.

Oh yes, you are so correct. It has nothing to do with wanting to breathe cleaner air and answer questions such as, "Why do schools near refineries have more autistic children?"

That's not all: HALF of ALL schools have above-average numbers of autistic children.

Then why are Scandinavian countries and other European countries doing a lot better than the USA, despite greater interventionism by the government?

This negative image of government and spending in the USA is getting ridiculous.

European countries have far stricter regulations regarding fuel standards than the USA does and people are still able to afford cars. Gas is twice as expensive as in the USA on average and yet people are still able to make end's meet.

The working class is getting killed because of current regulations, not because of liberalism. Giving more tax breaks to rich people and giving the bill to the middle class is obviously going to kill them. Not fixing the tax loopholes (which then leads to the offshoring of skilled jobs) is also hurting the middle class.

The People's Republic of China has a current fuel efficency standard of 45 mpg. So to sell cars in China GM and Ford already do this. It shouldn't be such a stretch to bring those technologies from China. If they can't they might as well fire their lazy American engineers and get superior Chinese engineers to show them how.

You really care about the auto industry? You're concerned about electric cars? There will be jobs building them, no? Your "concern" about blue collar jobs doesn't ring true.
If you are a Big Oil investor, just put your money somewhere else (or punch a clock for a living - like many do).

My city has two major auto plants (Ford & GM). Job losses or plant closures greatly affect the community as a whole. Unlike some, I can see the forest through the partisan trees. YMMV.

Oh, and I own a 2008 Ford hybrid assembled right in my hometown. I support my community's auto industry by voting with my wallet in my purchases, do you?

The fact is that the hybrid or electric will not do the same work and go the same places that the F-250, or larger, must do and needs to go. People should have a choice, not have to live with a government mandate.
