Did you go through the whole month of Feb still thinking it was Jan or did you just skip ahead to March?

If they made a law saying they could no longer do that, THEN it would be a violation of the Constitution. THAT makes perfect sense ..
I don't have a problem with the national christmas tree at all. If they put a bunch of Jesus ornaments (which is tacky anyway) or had a nativity scene at the base, that might be a problem.

I just find it funny that there are people who actually think the 'christmas tree' is a part of ancient christian tradition

Sometimes when I go into a retail establishment, the clerk will tell me to have a "blessed day". Well I find that offensive. It's their way of proselytizing. I didn't stop at 7/Eleven for a religious indoctrination. I stopped for a diet Pepsi! How about a simple "thank you and come back"? Keep your religion to yourself.

Oh yeah, now THAT I hate w/a passion. Seriously, just don't even say a word to me if you feel the need to "bless" people. How patronizing is that?? Yep, that irks me like you wouldn't believe.

I find it appalling that there are people who think that the Christmas holiday should not contain Christian symbolism and lore. These people are obviously not familiar with the name of the holiday. Or, for that matter, with the etymology of the term "hoilday"...

Yep, someone saying "have a blessed day" irks me also. I bite my tongue as I don't want to over react so I let it ride. Usually I just reply with have a good one and walk away.

The problem isn't even with being on public property. If the government wishes to declare a public fourm or "free speech zone" -- and many do -- then nativity scenes and all manner of religious objects and displays can be in it. But you can't discriminate. If Buddhists or Wiccans or Atheists want to put something in that space, they must be allowed to do so also and on an equal basis with everyone else. It's the suggestion or implication of favoritism by the state that is not allowed. Pretty simple rule, really...

Probably because Christians can't keep their Jesus, their god, their religion and their noses...out of anyone else's business and life.

Please, stop representing Christians as some victims, here. It is disingenuous and distasteful to do so.

I know where the term 'holy day' came from.

The christians stole the holiday to make it easier to convert the pagans... have you read this thread at all?

You can celebrate with as much christian symbolism and lore as you want. Just not on public property, because it belongs to everyone of every religion.
