Y'all are so funny talking about the Portland weather....ever lived in Texas? Now, here, we have wierd weather!
However, I think I am transferring to PDX and have a quick (hopefully not dumb) question. I have been reading here a while and understand about the gray skies, and possibility of SAD taking over for some people. My question is: as someone from mostly hot, frequently sunny Texas, is there a particular AREA od the PDX metro that is more/less sunny than others?
Thanks in advance!

*Let's just cancel summer*

I wish. You guys are lucky up there. How about 90 to 100+ for pretty much two to three months straight? I hate it! Yesterday was in the seventies here--very odd for the area this time of year. It's the only nice day we've had for months. But now... back to the heat. Could you cancel summer here as well? I have a condition known as Reverse SAD. It kicks in every summer.

So I'm about to move to PDX from Dallas, TX, solely due to the cooler weather up there, and I see today that Portland will be hotter than Dallas in the upcoming week(s).

But, help me understand the way it gets hot up there. Here, you sweat walking to the car in the morning on the way to work, and it's still hot at 10PM. Up there, my perception is that the mornings are cool and crisp, and it gets hottest from like 1-5PM, and then cools down quickly. So, basically, you can go out at night and you can wear jeans if you want, etc.

Accurate?

thx.

Actually, its going to being in the mid to upper 90s and maybe even up to 100 in Portland for the next days soon.

A few days a year, it seems like Portland and Seattle can be still feel hot outside the afternoon, even in morning and night.

Pfhtex-

I am also in Dallas about to move to PDX...and I seriously doubt that the weather in PDX even approaches the heat here. We have already hit the double digits although it's cooled off now (down to the 90's woohoo-smirk), but we have absolutely NO breeze and the sun bears down on us for months on end (the recent rain is very unusual for us this time of year for all of you non texans) Hell, when I wake up at 5am and get in my car to go to the gym, my car thermometer already says 88, and it's the middle of the night. It will be that way for months. Sorry, but I will have to disagree that the temps are even close......NTM the ozone alerts we have here....do y'all have that in PDX?

I'm with you. I'm in Florida and I have the same problem. Even our winters are pitiful.
