That magic zone of 70's and sunny seems to be an unstable point for Portland weather. Once the sun is out it's not long till it's in the eighties, and then not long till the 90's, and even then the 100's!

Fortunately, it never gets extremely hot in Portland.

As I recall, the all-time high temperature record for the city is only 107 degrees. Rather hot for the northwest... but manageable for short stretches of time.

I'd say last summer with a week of over 100 degree temperatures when most people and many businesses don't have air conditioning is extreme heat. It's true that there are extreme temps more regularly in other areas of the country, but A/C is everywhere in those areas.

Im not sure why some people make it sound like if they move to the Pacific Northwest, they wont have to ever deal with extreme temperatures. The temperature are usually moderate here compared to other areas of the country, but its not like that 100%of the time, maybe as much as 95%of the time, but not ALL the time.

I wanted it to get sunnier, but Im mad and upset that once it gets sunnier, it will get much hotter. I rather have it 65-70 and sunny.

Within a few days, Areas of Oregon such as Portland might be in the mid-upper 90s for at least a few days.
Seattle, might be in the mid to upper 80s.
Vancouver, Canada will be in the upper 70s-low 80s.

At least in Seattle, where I am, it wont be as hot as in Portland.

Vancouver will be the most lucky compared to the other two

Just got back from the fireworks show in Canby. It was lovely outside. Partly cloudy, nice and cool but not cold, with a gentle, fresh breeze to keep the smoke from the mini-fireworks moving away and not gathering. I don't believe I would have enjoyed it nearly as much if it had been 90 degrees and windless outside. Certainly much nicer than the 95+ degree and 70% humidity 4th of July fireworks shows I used to attend in Georgia.

Lunar Delta:

The best is yet to come, later this week....

Highs in the mid-to-upper 80's, brilliant sunshine, and after sundown the temp drops almost 25 to 30 degrees, (to show just how dry the heat is) and after sundown, sitting outdoors in the backyard with almost no bugs or misquotes. But don't sit still too long, those blackberry canes do grow quickly......
