From what I'd seen of Mahones in last sunday's win against Denver, I believe the Alex Smith era in Arrowhead has drawn to a close.

More than likely Smith will be going to a different team, but what a weird game that was. Hope the Titans player gets a hell of a fine for that helmet to helmet on Kelce, should have been a 15 yard penalty.

Sorry but Kelce had no helmet to helmet protection as he was equivalent to a runninng back when the hit was made.

Oh, playoff football. I almost forgot that was a thing.

One thing that was a thing iirc, when I still gave a bleep about football was your typical KC Chiefs one and done.

Rough loss for them I'm sure. The AFC West sure fizzled though huh?

New NFL rules: Crown-of-helmet change to help runner, defender - NFL.com

A 15-yard penalty will be called if a runner or a tackler initiates forcible contact by delivering a blow with the top/crown of his helmet against an opponent when both players clearly are outside the tackle box (an area extending from tackle-to-tackle and from 3 yards beyond the line of scrimmage to the offensive team's end line).

Chiefs need to move on from both Smith and Andy Reid. Neither is going to lead them to much more than a backed into playoff spot.

Tough loss today though, I'm sure that one stings, especially losing to a pretty bad Titans team.

As a long time Chiefs fan I expected this. Was hoping perhaps this year might be different. Sadly Andy went all turtle in the second half which left an already suspect defense on the field way too much. So we say good bye to Derick Johnson, Tamba Hali, Dee Ford, and Alex Smith. I'm really hoping we will be able to also say good bye to Bob Sutton the defensive coordinator. I'm hoping Mat Nagy, the offensive coordinator, doesn't get snatched up by some other team needing a head coach this off season. The pain of this loss is mitigated by the thought of saying hello to the Pat Mahomes era. I hope there will be enough needy teams to start a mini bidding war for a trade of Alex Smith as the Chiefs really need as many draft picks as possible to replenish their failing defense. Andy also needs to find a young, aggressive defensive coordinator to light a fire under the defensive players. Preferably one who has never heard of a prevent defense. I'm also hoping that the front office will have Andy on a short leash next year and not be afraid to pull the trigger on him if there is a repeat of this year's result. Playing "not to lose" would be a complete waste of Pat Mahomes' talent. Should the worse case prevail next year and Andy gets the ax, please no more retread head coaches as the odds of a retread getting to the Super Bowl and winning are very slim.

It's very hard to beat the Patriots to get to the game, especially when it's not a home game.

Making the playoffs is still a nice accomplishment, certainly better than not. Still, it seemed to me like the AFC West was gonna be something at the beginning of the season.

6 straight home playoff losses. Pitiful. I said as long as this bum Andy Reid is the head coach they'll never win a title. Same with Smith. Get rid of them both.
