I hope this doesn't throw us for a loop when the time comes to sign Necas, because he's quite important to keep.
I wondered about that too. Dropping Nino or Trocheck is one way out, but the scenario of an increasing cap is preferable. Better to be lucky than good.
Canes got a former #1 the hard way, and with some fun, too!
I sure hope the kid plays well with our other Finns, and adjusts well to a lower pressure environment.
The fact that Dundon stepped in and bought the AAF shows that league was doomed from the get-go. I don't agree with how he folded it so abruptly but the founders shouldn't have let it get that way.
As for Kotkaniemi, welcome to the squad. His arrival gives us another top-9-at-worst forward, and gives us time to figure out if someone like Jack Drury is really NHL-ready or they need another year/year in the AHL to get situated to the NHL. BTW, Montreal immediately traded our first and their first for Arizonas Dvorak, which probably goes to show they had no interest in keeping JKK.
I do think it's in the best interest to get Necas locked up ASAP, perhaps find a new home for someone like Gardiner.
Gardiner will have surgery and go on long-term injured reserve... allowing the Canes to exceed the cap in the short run. Think Tampa last season. Whether Gardiner plays again and if so for whom are now questions for 2022-23.

Sounds significant. Hip AND back surgery. Gotta just hope the guy comes through OK, whether he plays again or not.
Good question. The PNC Arena website says that masks are mandatory and that individual shows may impose vaccination or testing requirements. No word yet from the Canes. I haven't been to a PNC concert recently but I wonder how good the mask discipline actually is. Mask discipline at the Canes games back in the winter and spring was good, but of course people still had to unmask when eating and drinking.

We thought mask discipline was a bit weak.
I pulled up about 18 other arenas which will require masks, or full vaccination, or negative tests.
Should be interesting. We moved a few sections away, so we will have a lot of new seat mates around us.
I'm wondering if it will be different.
