I moved out on my own at age 19 while in college, and rented a 2 bedroom apartment in a sketchy area a few miles from school. My wife and I bought our first house at ages 24/23.

I was 25, married and one year out of the US Navy. House was new build, $17K in 1967, Marlboro MA, when I was making $110 per week. Gave it up in a divorce in 1969.

Interior has been redone, unfinished 2nd floor has been refinished with two bedrooms and a full bath plus a 3 seasons porch has been added. Now valued at over $400K.
