I'm not surprised, Hawk J. You're a content man and it's refreshing.

I did all handywork around the house with the ex. I enjoyed it and it kept me busy. Major stuff he did but it was very rare as it was a brand new house. I'm not afraid of tackling projects but I would enjoy it more if I had someone to do it with..

I actually like to do my own yard work despite my age and, honestly, the few times I've paid someone to do it they don't do it half as well as I! I can handle basic plumbing stuff, replacing broken pipes and parts, etc., can fix toilets, drain out the water pump when it acts up, fix the roof and do a ton of things I don't even think twice about.

The only thing I don't mess with is electricity!

Seriously, when I see what some of these either licensed or unlicensed people charge per hour for a simple fix you bet I'll learn how to do things myself and you can't beat the personal satisfaction of having done the fix!!!

You think you're someone's maker? And women who try to do stuff? It's not about just trying, but doing. I'm sorry you find it all so challenging. And it's too bad that it ruffles your feathers that I don't. Btw, I don't think for one second that you find it hot. I think it challenges you and it shouldn't. Your self-worth should not be dependent on the talents and faults of others, but what you bring to your own table.
Being told you know everything and there is no way I could be quite as good as you is an insult. The fact you seem to find it elementary and easy is a joke. Your self worth should not be dependent on mouthin' off on a internet forum. It's a damn joke and I find it laughable. After you get qualified, then you have some ground to stand on. Until then, you know the drill!

I seem to be missing something here. Why so much belligerence over a simple thread on a simple subject? Are you this combative on every subject?

She seems to find it elementary and easy. If she knew what she was talking about, she would know HELL I DON'T EVEN KNOW EVERYTHING! I work with guys who have been at it for 46 years and still learn something new everyday. You never know it all.......NEVER!! My sore knees, calluses, scars and muscular bod KNOW I'm right!

Actually, there is no drill. To start, I never stated that I know everything. I stated there is nothing I cannot learn. I happen to apply that belief to everyone barring extreme circumstances. Almost everyone can learn anything. There's good reason, tho, why I can learn easily and quickly. I picked up techniques in college to be honest. I keep things simple. My approach is similar to my approach at work. And my job is about discovering things I don't know. That's what research scientists do. They spend time figuring shyte out; figuring out unknowns. So, I just apply the approach to my home projects.

It goes like this -A. what's the hypothesis? That's the first question I ask myself. I have to have a clear understanding about what I intend to investigate rather than just going at it loosey goosey.

B. Once I am clear, I list the variables/parameters of the question. I gather all available data related to the hypothesis. Typically, I don't understand all the things on my list. So, one by one I read about them and learn.

C. Then I design my experiment. I gather all the materials needed to complete the experiments. I optimize if possible as I go along. This is followed by the final product/results and if something goes wrong, which often happens, I adjust and re-do it.

Again, it's important to keep it simple.

Good grief, all she did was document how she was able through self-help research and the internet to fix an old dryer and she demonstrated nothing of the "attitude" you seem to have read into her posts here. I must suffer from a major disability where reading comprehension is concerned ... and please don't shout, it hurts my ears.
